    Although I put this item in the tais market, the best place to buy it is on the road to Maubara as there are many stands along the road.
    In Dili you may find some, but not with so many patterns and more expensive

    Other interesting items are the "Cal containers". They're made from bambu, with beautiful carvings in the outside. They usually use them to carry a kind of tobacco they chew, wich leave their teeth red...

    The Tais market is a open air market where many typical items are sold in small wooden barracks.

    The Atauro statues are small images of a man and a woman (allways a pair) varved in black wood.
    When buying, allways pay attention that the pair is a man and a woman. Sometimes they put 2 men/2 women

    Around $5 each pair

    The Tais market is a open air market where many typical items are sold in small wooden barracks.

    The tais are tipical timorese cloths with many patterns. Each district has it's own pattern. Nowadays, many of the tais are made in West Timor in factories, but you can still find real material there...

    It depends on the size:
    A small one around $1
    A medium size around $5
    A big one depending on its size from $15-$50

    NOTE: These prices are relative, If you bargain and if you buy m,ore items, the prices become lower...
    Above all, BARGAIN....
