Central District, Hong Kong

Favorite thing: As the name tells, Central is the heart of Hong Kong. It is the home to major government offices, the core of business and banking, and hence the hub of power and wealth. Here you'll find traces of old British colonial Hong Kong, told by the remaining 19th century buildings; and a young and energetic modern city moving into the cyber age, showing off its newly built glassy and metallic sky-high rises. The tour is ideally a weekday itinerary, try to avoid Sundays and public holidays when thousands of Filipino amahs working locally will have gatherings in Central. Tips: This tour features a number of landmark buildings new and old, so don't forget your camera! After a stroll in Central which usually needs less than a half day, you may continue heading westwards for Sheung Wan and the Western;

Favorite thing: Walk during the rush hours in the central area, you must enjoy the crowd moving around you and with you, that is Hong Kong, millions of people moving in big streets through high palaces.

Fondest memory: The lights of the palaces you watch in the ferry moving from a land to another one.

Favorite thing: There are just too many places to visit. As a big city, Central district is definitely a must see. This small piece of land is all occupied by wonderfully designed office towers such as the Bank of China Tower and the Hong Kong Bank Headquarters. So, have your camera ready.

Favorite thing: This is just a tinny glimp of, to me the most impressive tower in downtown area, Wanchai, The Bank of China building! However, to see it fully you either gotta go somewhere above or to take a ferry to Kowloon. From the sea view you can see this one, and many others, in their full size!

Favorite thing: This is a view from the American Club where my family had a membership. I don't remember the name of the building on the left, but my sister and I used to call it the 'swiss cheese building' because of the round windows that look like holes!

Favorite thing: Go to Staunton Street in Central. People call this little area the SOHO of Hong Kong. It used to be a very old residential area but restaurants started to move in few years ago and now it's all packed w/ chic people at nite. Expect to see nice restaurants offering cuisines from all over the world from Thai to Cuban. Interesting view of old buildings contrasting w/ new hip restaurants. Will also see little old grocery shops.

Favorite thing: The ladder is located in busy center area and leads you to hunt good food and antiques.

Favorite thing: View CENTRAL PLAZA from Kowloon: one of the latest addition to the office towers in Wan Chai. (That's the tallest building in this picture.)
