Hong Kong at Night, Hong Kong
Favorite thing: Lai Chi Kok Amusement Park was located at western part of Lai Chi Kok Bay. It was once the largest and the only amusement park in Hong Kong when it first opened for business. It opened to the public in the year 1949 with many attractive and exciting all fashioned rides for the whole family. It was one of the favourite nightspots for the residents of Hong Kong for many years. Unfortunately the Park was closed in 1997 when the government acquired the land for some residential projects due to its strategic location. Since then the owners Far East Technology International try to find a new location at Lantau Island to revive the amusement park!
Favorite thing: Each night from 8:00~8:18pm 19 buildings in Hongkong Island will give a show of multi-media lights and sounds. During Chinese New Year they will also combine this symphony of lights with a firework display. You can have this spectacular view of Victoria Harbor in Tsim Sha Tsui. The best viewing location is at Avenue of Stars or the Ferry Pier new HK Cultural Center. Along the Avenue of Stars there'll also be a broadcast of the show.
After hanging out in Kowloon park quite late we went to the pier ... to the HK China ferry terminal roof terrace a few times to catch views over the strait... Victoria Harbour. It wasn't as crowded as waterfront promenade yet you saw a lot towards the other side (Hong Kong Island with financial centre) - and you could see very well this huge construction site of the rising new skyscraper (one of the highest in the world) on reclaimed area west of TST, this huge machine for living and business.
Dramatic in the evening.
Rather huge in a daytime.
Aren't they planning to do large glass construction there at the foot of that place? So called West Kowloon Complex... also known as the Dragon? (for interested see this page: http://www.e-architect.co.uk/hong_kong/west_kowloon_development.htm). We'll see.
This pier also seems to be popular with just married couples as they came here with photographers for photo sessions, to have HK with Victoria hill as a background for their pictures.
Other than that, yes... it's a good spot for taking pictures. Have something to protect you from wind in winter or sun because there's no much shadow here.
Internet service and business centre
Fondest memory: I went to Hong Kong for a business trip last week. I found a cyber cafe in Wan Chai. The boss and staff are so helpful. I printed out several pages and web surfing (fast server!!) for 2 hours. It's really good to stay there with a prefect view in the town! It's 24hrs open. Price of services is much lower than in hotels. -- Recommended! --
It is located in No.94-100, Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
Being one ot the Largest International Port Cities in the World since the 19th Century and is a Duty Free Area since then, Hong Kong is one of the most Popular Shopping Cities in the World as it has various Shopping Options for everykind of Budget, ranging from the bargain basement prices and goods at Mong Kok and Stanley Market to the Gian Malls of Tsim Sha Tsui, Admiralty, Central and Causeway Bay and the Luxe Department Store Chains of Sogo, Daimaru, Isetan and the luxe Fashion Houses Like Hermes', Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Versace and more. As the Prices of the goods here are way cheaper in other shopping destinations around the world due to the Duty Free Nature of the Territory.
Fondest memory: A Shopper's Paradise.
Try make a point to the Kowloon Observation deck, there you will able to see a full view of Hongkong skyline, to get there, you may travel by MRT at Tsim Sha Tsui station or take the famous star ferry with a promise unforgetable view. It doesn't cost you much. (4HKGD-6HKGD). Tips! Come during sunset. It's really amazing! As you will witness two different kind of situation of the skyline.
Fondest memory: The best as i mentioned, the observation Hongkong skyline on the 1st day! I was so excited, running towards the observation deck!!! Unforgetable!
Fondest memory: A View from the promenade next to the Hongkong Cultural Center in Kowloon is really an unforgetable memory. Especially in the winter months the skyline of Central and Wanchai has a wonderful and bright illumination. I don´t think any other city in the world can top this.
The peak is probably the most important spot people should visit when they come to Hong Kong. Many of the postcard pictures are taken from there. It is especially nice on occasions when there are firework displays in the Victoia harbour.

And how much is the MTR rides?
My favorite thing about Hong Kong was leaving. This is no place to even begin to have a good time. Had argument with some man about another man grabbing his wife's butt, not easy to tell him it wasnt me, when I didnt know what he was mad about in the first place, luckily another lady told him who had done it, not sure how much bail would be, but was well on the way to finding out. The air quality was terrible, food was decent at best, two buddies got pick pocketed the first night, luckily we lock most of the money up in hotel safe and carry just a little cash in pocket. And no we werent drunk. This all happened before we could ever get to the club we were heading out to. Got to the club, after having to go back to hotel for more cash to find our bags had been gone through. Was it because we are American or what? We were very disapointed in the trip, and decided to book first available flight to get out of there the next day, and went to Phuket and had a wonderful time. Now I wont even book a flight if it goes through Hong Kong. Just pay more and let them have that place to themselves. I am sure if I had stayed longer , might have had a nice time. But, when its going downhill like that, cut your losses and leave.
Fondest memory: Please Buckle Your Seat belt as we are about to depart from Hong Kong, best thing I had heard since I arrived
Favorite thing: The background is the lovely Hong Kong skyline at night, with tall buildings standing in their colourful prime. I M Pei's Bank of China Building looks particularly charming I think. But what's most charming about this pix is the lit up Chinese junk cruising its way toward Central, because it's taken when the vessel is assigned to charm the onlookers on both harbour sides during the Chinese Mid Autumn Festival. Do visit my Local Customs tips for more festive reports.
Favorite thing: I had heard Hong Kong described in many ways, but strangely I had never heard it described as beautiful. Perhaps the commotion eclipses the images of HK in most people's hindsight. Really I found it a beautiful place. The view of Central from the Kowloon side is amazing, particularly at dusk and night. The view of the city looking down from Victoria Peak is also incredible.
Fondest memory: My fondest memory of Hong Kong was flying into the city at night and seeing all of the tall buildings lit up and standing tall. Coming from a place where the tallest building is 5 floors, this was quite an experience.
Because the night life is well worth seeing, if you wanted to make the most of it, leave the kids at home! With so many restaurants, bars, nightclubs etc, you will want to sample quite a few into the wee hours of the morning.
Of course if your not into the nightlife, Hong Kong and kids are fine. In actual fact that is proably the equally appealling thing about Hong Kong is that it is very safe, and people are honest. I haven't once been short changed in the three years we have lived here!
Fondest memory: Going back to the Gold Coast can seem very quite after time in Hong Kong.
Favorite thing: Hongkong is always more charming at night than in the day time. When you are there, take your time to walk around in the evening. You will always find it so bright and colorful whenever you go.
