    Shopping at Nathan Road

Favorite thing: This is the southern end of the Golden Mile. Most shops here cater for tourists, not locals. Yes, you need to bargain and shop around not to pay the high end.

But here you find the variety that appeals to foreign tourists. The latest electronic gadgets, the arts and crafts, sapphires and rubies, silk clothes, rolex watches, the list goes on.

Avoid buying ivory or animal products. There is a shopping etiquette, once you offer a price, you buy if the seller agrees. So do not give a asking price even if the shopkeeper beg you to. Unless it is the price you are willing to pay for. Happy shopping.

    Mosque

Favorite thing: What's good about walking and walking is to find not's written in the map and anything...You can discover for yourself those ones...And HongKong is safe to walk around during at night so, I saw this one and it's right beside the Kowloon Park and specifically in Nathan Rd. Anybody know this mosque name?

Fondest memory: Walking and just walking...isn't that tiring?lol

Fondest memory: Being in Kowloon, we figured we'd walk up Nathan Road. Duh. We were invited by an Indian man into his house where we were shown a selection of 'real' Rolexes. He was trying to sell to the teacher we were with, and of course would be only too happy to sell to us too, but we declined as we could probably find better prices elsewhere. I think one of our group did buy from him though... oh well, don't remember.

Fondest memory: Nathan Road, Kowloon..this is the place where you can find it all. If you want cheap room and board, or a fake designer watch you will find it here. Actually I found this to be the best place to stay and hang out while visiting HK. There were internet cafe's and restaurants galore.

    Nathan Road

Favorite thing: Visit Nathan Road - it is a great place (the best place?) for shopping in Hong Kong! I think Hong Kong is a shoppers paradise...there are soooo many shops everywhere! Nathan Road was full of all types of shops, I think it must have been the busiest part of Hong Kong... I read that the southern end of Nathan Road is called the 'Golden Mile' because of the value of the land...oh...and its ability to suck money out of tourists pockets!! ;)

    Shopping on Nathan Road

by hkgirl Updated Sep 6, 2002

Favorite thing: Nathan Road stretches from Mongkok to Tsim Sha Tsui and it's a prominant shopping area for locals.
Mongkok has the Ladies Market and Garden Street, where you can find CDs, clothes, electronics, gadgets, and everything cheaply. I can't guarantee that they are all genuine.
As you go towards Tsim Sha Tsui, the shops get more upscale but everything is still so affordable.
You can take the No 6 bus all the way along Nathan Road at night. Take a seat on the upper deck and enjoy the vibrancy of the city. Most shops open after 11am and close around midnight.

Favorite thing: Here's Nathan Road on a quiet day... :) Most of the time when we walked down Nathan Road it was packed full of people so we were surprised to see it like this...I just had to take a photo!
