If it foggy or low cloud, delay going to the Peak
Favorite thing: The Views from the Top of the Peak are stunning, but if when you look up from around the Star Ferry area, and you can't see the top of the mountains, then delay your visit to the Peak. The is little to see when it is cloudy, and it is rather frustrating.
On a plus side, when it is cloudy, you can get some pretty good night time pictures from the Kowloon side of the illuminated Hong Kong buildings. The clouds seem to reflect the light and make everything seem brighter!

night scene of hong kong
Favorite thing: night scene. dun have to go to the Peak, but some commercial buildings may have a floor to see the view for free. but you have to ask the staff if they have it now because the 911 issue made some buildings close the visitors floor.
Fondest memory: the first time i went to the Peak was at my childhood. i like that place not only because it's the peak of Hong Kong island, but the view is nice and air is fresh. when night comes, view changes into another mood... so beautiful and romantic...
Sunset at the Peak
Favorite thing: Shopping. But sightseeing is a close second! Go to Victoria Peak near sunset, taking the Peak Tram. Then, look for the McDonald's there and head for the viewdeck at the back of the store. The sunset from there is gorgeous.
Fondest memory: The food, the shops, the Orientalia (of course, this is China!), and the people - even if some are annoyingly grumpy.
Stroll Around the "Peak"
Favorite thing: The view from Victoria Peak is something that I think everybody should see. The most popular form of transport to get to the top is the Peak Tram. However, I suggest that you should get a taxi to the top and then take the tram down. This way you miss the long wait for the tram at the bottom.
When you get to the top you should take the 2.8km walk around the Peak. On a clear day you an get some great views.
Favorite thing: From Central, head for VICTORIA PEAK by crossing the road from Hongkong & Shanghai Bank, turn left 50 yards & then turn right 200 yards until you see the fountain. Here, you'll find the entrance to the Peak Tram.
The Peak Tram will whisk you up the 386 m (1267 ft) ascent to the top where you'll get a fantastic view of Hong Kong's incredible harbor & skyline!
Fondest memory: Along the journey you'll be able to catch a glimpse of the beautiful harbor & all the buildings surrounding it. A very pretty & unique sight!

Cute the Q
Favorite thing: It might happen that the Q for the Victoria Peak is really long. Depending on your plans and on your budget, pass the line on the left and proceed to the counter of Madame Tussaud. I noticed a board telling about a package. Which means you buy a ticket for Madame Tussaud and the Victoria Peak and you pass all the other people. Worth to consider, as the line can be quite long. And trust me, when the sun is shining you don't want to be in line for hours.
Hong Kong Island, the economical centre of Asia
Favorite thing: On Hong Kong Island, the main attraction is the view from Victoria Peak. The Peaktram brings you to the viewingplatform and be sure you go once during the day and once at nighttime. Both times the view over HongKong island, over the bay towards Kowloon is dazzling. Along the peak are several trails that can be followed to discover new angles and views.
Fondest memory: Doing my utmost to find a way making the picture on the openingspage at night ... with a simple camera. A true miracle that it worked out - hahaha. Only afterwards I could calmly enjoy the light of the city below.

Favorite thing: take the tram up the side of the Peak on HK island. Views that will amaze you, both on the way up and at the top. The new, shiny complex built up there is a little tacky, but wander out of it and enjoy the public gardens near by........See pic below, taken from the Peak
Fondest memory: So many....attending a Tao ceremony in a tower block in Sheung Sui, visiting my ex's elderly relatives way out in the New Territories...And this isn't really fond but is VIVID.....having the world's worst hangover on the last day of my first visit there. Believe me, HK is the WORST place to have a hangover...the heat, smells, lack of public toilets...sorry!

Favorite thing: The first to do is to take the shuttle to Victoria Peak - make use of the tram to the top. The ride and the view from the top of Victoria Peak is something which will stays forever.
Fondest memory: When sunsets over Hong Kong the best place to be is on the promenade. Seeing the lights comes on on the island overlooking the harbour is beautifull.
london.gal's General Tip
Fondest memory: One of the highlights of Hong Kong for a tourist/ visitor is to spend a lovely evening at Victoria Peak. The best time to come is just before sun set. Take the funicular (Peak Tram) right to the top where a panorama of modern skyscrapers awaits you. En route to the top of The Peak, you will also be passing some of the city's poshest new residential towers!!!!!!!!!!

Favorite thing: Go up to Victoria Peak. If you go late afternoon/ twilight, you can get some great photos both day and night. There's shops and restarants up there so you can make a night of it.
To get up there from Hong Kong Island, you can get a bus from the Star Ferry terminal straight up to the top (not for the faint hearted I should say, white knuckle ride. Maybe it was just our driver?!?) or take a bus to the fenicular tram station. We went up by bus and came back down by tram.
