Neon Signs at night in Kowloon by easyoar Whilst the Neon Signs by day look good, they really come alive once night falls and the lights get turned on. They are probably one of the best known views of Hong Kong, with the signs being in Chinese, some in English, and no doubt others being in other languages still. With all that Neon, they hardly need street lights! Leave a Comment Address: KowloonDirections: Just wander around the streets in and around Nathan Road, Kowloon.

by Guantanamera Mong Kok district is located in the west central sector of Kowloon... This area struck me as basically middle class, with plenty of affordable restaurants and shopping areas at the street level... In this photo, Virginia (VT member vigi) talks on her mobile phone somewhere on the streets of Mong Kok... Leave a Comment

Clock Tower by Guantanamera The solitary and mysterious clock tower that you will see adjacent to the Hong Kong Cultural Centre alongside the harbour is the last remnant of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Terminus which was demolished in 1978. The clock tower was built in 1915 and the clock itself began operating in 1921. Located just next to the Star Ferry Pier... Leave a Comment Directions: Tsim Sha Tsui.

HKCC at night by Guantanamera This large building occupies much of the space along the harborside and contains a huge 2100 seat concert hall as well as theatres that seat up to 300 and 1800 people, respectively... This is one of the premier venues for the performing arts in Hong Kong... While the structure is not especially notable or eye-catching in the daytime, it is often attractively lit up at night with colored lights such as you see in the photo here... Leave a Comment

About a hundred years ago, a flower market was established near the ancient village of Mong Kok where flowers were cultivated. Today, the flower market is still in the same location on Flower Market Road near Mong Kok stadium. There are many varieties of flowers to choose and buy from the Flower Market. This is also a good place to blend in with the locals and take some nice photos with the flowers and the market scene. Theoretically the same hours as Yuen Po Street Bird Garden but only gets busy after 10am, especially on Sunday. The theme of the Museum of Science is technological and scientific progress in many fields of human activity. With its 500 or so exhibits, it is a "hands on" museum, where visitors can set robots in motion, learn to operate the very latest communications technology or study complex scientific and technical matters with the aid of a computer. It attracts younger visitors in particular and helps to familiarize them with the latest equipment. One section explains the history of the Chinese art of natural healing and the importance of yin and yang. Particularly popular, too, is the aircraft department, where visitors can test their skill on nerve-tingling flight-simulators. A particular attraction is the 22m/72ft high electricity generator, which is activated twice daily. Another exhibit is a DC-3 suspended from the ceiling which is the first Hong Kong airliner operated by Cathy Pacific. The attractive four-story building was designed by the internationally known Italian architect Remo Riva and completed in 1990. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays : 1pm - 9pm Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays : 10am - 9pm Closed Thursdays. Admission: HK$25 Leave a Comment

The Chi Lin Nunnery is a Buddhist nunnery in Diamond Hill, New Kowloon and located in amongst several high-rise apartments blocks. But that doesn't spoil the beauty of it as it is exceptionally beautiful with courtyards containing lotus ponds full of Choy carp whilst the complex buildings have been built out of wood in the style of Tang architecture (AD618-907) without the use of a single nail. A gem of Chinese monastic architecture, it has 16 Buddhist halls, a Zen-style rock garden and a magnificent Ten Thousand Buddha’s Pagoda. The nunnery was founded in the 1930s and a massive renovation was undertaken in the 1980s. It's a wonderful peaceful place to visit and one of my favourite places to visit whilst I was in Hong Kong. Opposite is a lovely garden that was opened in 2006. Open: 7am-5pm Thur-Tue. Leave a Comment Address: 5 Chin Lin Dr, Diamond Hill, New Kowloon.Directions: Take the MTR to Diamond Hill

hongkong harbour view (c) ukirsari by ukirsari walking along victoria harbour is something nice. several old buildings still remains, for example clock tower at the end of nathan road to direction peking road. and about the ferry ... here my picture show the same landscape about views towards hongkong island with star ferry as an object -- just like taken by million tourists who's been in kowloon. speaking about star ferry itself, has many ferries and the unique thing, the name always ended with "star" like northern star, evening star etc. it's a long history about kowloon - hongkong ferry line, from 18th century. It is the largest Islamic house of worship in Hong Kong. The present building with its dome and carved marble was completed in 1984 to serve the territory's 70,000 odd Muslims, more than half of whom are Chinese and can accommodate 2000 worshippers. It occupies the site of a mosque built in 1896 for Muslim Indian troops. Muslims are welcome to attend services but non-Muslims should ask permission to enter. Remember to remove your shoes.
