Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong

Lan Kwai Fong consists of a collection of clubs and bars that is popular with both expats and young locals. Some of the bars/pubs have outdoor seating, which is perfect to watch people or be watched.

It's proximity to SoHo means some nightcrawlers first dine at SoHo and then adjourn to Lan Kwai Fong for some late-night partying.

The area seems to get lively after 11pm or even midnight on weekends.

Dress Code: Most of the clubbers or pubbers stick to smart casual, but dress up if you want!

If you want to escape to the crowds and noise of other venues in Lan Kwai Fong, choose the terrace of Le Jardin to relax and to chill out...

Finding this charming, outdoor bar can be tricky: stand at the corner of Lan Kwai Fong and D’Aguilar Street, facing uphill, and then turn right into a tiny alley. You will immediately be accosted by several Thai and Malaysian restaurateurs for your business (in front of Club64). Though their food is quite good, push through them to the end of the alley if you are merely thirsty, and climb the stairs to Le Jardin.

Everynight, Lan Kwai Fong are packed with foreigners, and some local people (who can speak english haha).

While for local teenagers, they prefer Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok (karaoke, disco) etc.

Dress Code: Anything you like to and feel comfortable.

Wow, Lan Kwai Fong is indeed a bustling place to hang out for fun at night!

There are so many pubs and watering holes, you'd definitely be spoilt for choice... these range from the small, cozy, eclectic ones that exude a bohemian charm to those bigger establishments that house a lot more people and noise... quite a number of them have those mandatory big plasma screens that will be showing... yes, what else? -- sports re-runs or ESPN cable.

I found the place intoxicating (no pun intended) because of the general jive and bustle of the place!

Definitely fun to just get a couple of Lychee Martinis from Lux and stand around and sip... watch the crowds and just soak in the atmosphere!

Electrifying! And with all those neon signs, it's no wonder why Lan Kwai Fong is such a hot spot to be in! :)

Dress Code: Well, just about anything goes!

Party wear would be cool -- just jeans and a shirt and casual shoes from leather loafers to sneakers... really up to you. Then for the girls, a lot of them were geared in the de rigeur spaghetti tops and tube tops and jeans or tight pants and high, high heels... but you could wear a dress too...

Lan kwai Fong is a few small city blocks of bars, clubs and restaurants. Its a pretty cool place to go at night. Most of the places dont have a cover charge so you can just hop from bar to bar. The prices all seem about the same, so just find the one which attracts you the most and chill there. Its pretty cool just walking around too. There are alot of foreigners that frequent this spot which was a surprise to me. The people here were pretty friendly. If you have nothing else to do and feel like you need to unwind, you should go check out this spot.

Dress Code: It didnt seem like there was a dress code, but most would wear clubbin clothes. there were people in suits, why.. i have no idea... maybe they came straight from work at 11:30 pm???

Everyone raves about LKF, and it's the de rigeur place to go if you're looking for a night out on the town.

Actually, the whole area along the Mid-Levels are full of such night spots, some on street level, and many in corners and little alleys.

One interesting place to go is Balalaika, which is a normal pub by all standards, but its unique point lies in its "Freezer Room". The Freezer Room is an enclosed area within the bar, about 2 sqm big, and is kept at a very low temperature. I don't know exactly what's the temp they keep it at, but suffice to say that you need a coat to sit in there. The idea is you pick up a faux fur coat from the rows of hangers in the bar, go into the Freezer Room, and down a couple of vodka shots.

For people who come from tropical climates, it helps you to understand why vodka is so appreciated in cold climates. For folks who live in temperate climates, it might just remind you of the winter back home!

Drop is another uber-hip place to go to, and it's located in a tiny alley where you'd least expect to find it. Another difficulty is that Drop is a members-only bar, and is packed to the brim on weekends. But if you go on a weekday, you should have no problem getting in. Key draw points is the cool house music and the fruit martinis, touted to be the best in town.

Whenever I visit Hong Kong, I usually make an effort to go and visit D26. Its one of my favourite places to go for a drink when in Lan Kwai Fong.
Their happy hour is from 3pm until 9pm, and that includes cocktails, and their cocktails are very very tasty!
The staff are very friendly and as we were regular visitors, we were greeted with a smile every time we walked in there.

Dress Code: They dont have a dress code. You will encounter people wearing suits going for a after work drink, but dont let that put you off. We went in wearing jeans and t-shirts and it was acceptable.

If you want to have a fab time, head to Lan Kwai Fong, its on Hong Kong Island, and a short walk from the closest MTR Station (Central). Its a area packed with nice bars and restaurants. They all have Happy Hour up until about 8pm at night, and some have it till later, guaranteed a fabulous time!!

Dress Code: Loads of businessmen go there for a quick drink after work so they are dressed in their work attire, but as we were on holiday there, we went wearing jeans and T-Shirts, and it was not a problem at all.
