Night Clubs: Wanchai bar and nightclubs

If your looking for fun with your guy friends then you must go to the Wanchai district. There you will find a few blocks full of bars and stripclubs. There you will find many women in the clubs in which you can buy a drink for, have some sexual pleasures in a private booth, or take home to your hotel room for a private one on one session. It is however very pricy.

Dress Code: As long as you have some clothes on your back and money yes money in your wallet or bank account your are a good to go.

Night Clubs: Joe Bananas -- Wanchai

    by Ewingjr98 Updated Nov 13, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Joe Bananas was our favorite night spot in all of Hong Kong. Early in the evening, it is a casual bar with large glass doors opening into the street, giving it a very open feel. Until midnight, they have two-for-one drinks. If you order a beer, they will give you two. When you are ready to drink the second one, hand it back for them to open, and they will swap it out for a cold one. Just keep an eye on your beer that is on-deck. We saw a few questionable characters sneaking other people's spare beers off their tables for their own consumption!

After midnight, the glass doors close, two-for-ones stop, and Joe Bananas starts to rock! The DJ played a good variety of music that kept people on the dance floor all night. The clientèle was a good mixture of locals, westerners, and quite a number of Thai girls of questionable motive...

    This bar is great!

Kee Club: a Club for the Rich & Beautiful

by vigi Written Jul 19, 2007

With beautiful Picassos paintings on the walls, antique, rugs and statues decorations, High back leather chair, this club definately looks good and luxury! Private kitchen style restaurnat offers everything from lobster risotto, foie gras to sticky rice. Wine, brandy and Scotch are the most popular drinks, as most regulars (rich and celebrities) tends to order by bottle. The crowd are 30+ age chic group (a bit pretentious though) and with DJ spinning some best house music in Hong Kong.

Dress Code: No trainers, flip flops, shorts.

Stauntons Wine Bar & Cafe: @SOHO: Tapas and Sangrias

by bpacker Updated Aug 13, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This place is like a breath of fresh air compared to some pretentious drinking joints in the city hotels. The joint is small, the service great (they speak Good English here!) and the prices even better. What's more it's in the cosy SOHO neighbourhood. Just go to the second storey and dine on tapas and sangrias under the stars at night.

Tip:Go for the tapas platter while you're at in, it comes with chunks of hot pita bread and delicious scoops of hummus ( chickpea dip) , baba ganoosh(eggplant dip), feta cheese, calamata olives and samosas.

Dress Code: Casual Chic, everyone's an expat or a chuppie (chinese yuppie) over here.

    Felix Bar: Starck Impressions

by bpacker Updated Aug 13, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

When I was still living in Singapore, I heard much about Felix, a swanky joint high atop Hong Kong's most prestigious hotel designed by the reknown French designer, Philippe Starck. So when my Singaporeans friends came over, I thought I could impress them with a visit there.

Well, we were impressed initially - when we took the lift, the lights dimmed red before the doors open to reveal....a really small eatery with an even smaller bar upstairs. Before we went upstairs for drinks, we did see some Starck impressions here and there, with the wavy walls and the famous chairs with imprints of Starck's unfortunate friends whose faces got turned into back cushions.

And that was it. The rest was just hoopla cooked by the media.

The bar was cramped and claustrophic with ceilings fit for hobbits, the service really crappy since the staff had the attention span of gnats and the marvellous views blocked by Venetian blinds.

To sum it all, it was a disappointment and a tourist trap that I got suckered into. I should have brought my friends to Aqua which was around the corner, sigh.

Dress Code: Dress like a rich hobbit. The place here is small and the food/drinks come at a price.

  • Night Clubs: Dragon-i Killing the Mood

by vanessaharris Written May 28, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Last night I went to what I was told by a friend to be the coolest nightclub in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, dragon-i nightclub had these weird exhibits of live birds in cages that did not do much for my party mood… I felt so bad dancing and smoking and trying to have a good time while these miserable birds stared out at me from their tiny cages. I don’t know how the owners of the club could possibly have thought this would be cool?! The birds probably just wanted to go to sleep and they had all this loud music bellowing at them all night long. Today I stumbled upon this web page: http://action.petaasiapacific.com/ea-campaign/clientcampaign.do?ea.client.id=110&ea.campaign.id=3577&ea.param.extras=ea_source_code:papadvdipros~c=papdipr, apparently PETA is even campaigning for these birds freedom! I won’t be going to dragon-i again, talk about killing the fun.

Club Makati on the Hong Kong...

    by Dick_Loudon Written Aug 24, 2002

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Club Makati on the Hong Kong Island side. Best music around and lots of pretty Filipinas and visiting civilians and US/other military to dance with.
Great collection of many nationalities, dominated by ladies from the Philippines who are there as nannies. Nightlife generally is loud, friendly, and can be quite expensive. Unless you're Bill Gates or Li Ka-shing, don't bother going to a Hostess Club. The bill will be as much as your airline ticket.

Dress Code: Various. For the more expensive clubs, a business suit is either suggested or required for entry.

    Aqua: Aqua

    by koolkatz_76 Written May 28, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you enjoy a cool clubbing atmosphere, great views and beautiful people, you cannot miss this place.

Aqua at One Peking Road 29/F is all of that, and more. You can choose to dine at Aqua Roma or Aqua Tokyo, offering Italian food and Japanese food respectively. I haven't tried the restaurants myself, and usually head for the bar area.

Glass is liberally used throughout the whole establishment, and for good reason. The views of the HK skyline is unbeatable, and with the chillout music in the background, you feel like a million dollars (even if you don't have it in your bank account!)

Also try out the extensive range of drinks they have, especially the house specialities.
