    How hot??

    by dejavu2gb Written Dec 14, 2004

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: As I visited Hong Kong during summertime, I can advize you that taking summer clothes are very important as Hong Kong gets sweltering hot, and its also very very humid.
T-Shirts and Shorts will be fine. Fortunately when you go in doors its always airconditioned, so when you feel like you are going to faint, just go indoors somewhere and take in the cool air...

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: A few people I have spoken to including myself have had diarrhoea whilst visting HK. I am not sure what causes it, might be change in water or something, but I would recommend taking some Immodium for incase it happens.

Photo Equipment: If you dont have a digital camera, take lots and lots of film, because there is lots and lots to see, so you will want to capture it all on film.
If you do have a digital camera, get an extra memory card, I took LOADS of pics and still had to get extra film.

    My Bag

by dragontml Updated Dec 9, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Luggage and bags: If you plan to do lots of shopping in HK, pack an extra bag or if you don't want to do that, you can easily buy a bag here.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Lightweight cottons and linens are worn during warmer months, with warmer clothes for spring and autumn evenings. It should be noted that even during the hottest weather, a jacket or pullover will be required for the sometimes fierce air-conditioning indoors. Warm mediumweights are best during winter. Waterproofing is advisable during summer rains.

    From Aspirin to Jackets

    by Vita500 Updated Jul 13, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Try to always have a light sweater or jacket with you as, the hotter it becomes outside, the cooler it usually becomes inside (bus, taxi, shopping mall, supermarket, etc.)!!!

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Due to the substantial difference between indoor and outdoor temperature, not everybody is able to cope with that easily. Be prepared!

Photo Equipment: Films are relatively expensive in Hong Kong, so I recommend to bring some extra rolls.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: For those who do not only want to explore the skyscrapers and shopping malls, I recommend to bring a good pair of sports or hiking-shoes.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: I went to Hong Kong in May, being cold in New Zealand when i left i worn jeans, good plan (Not), arriving in Hong Kong at night was fine not too hot nor too cold. In the morning woke up at 6am and got into my jeans. By about 10am after walking around Hong Kong the jeans were ready to come off big time the humidity rose to about 110% (well it felt that). Make sure you take warm clothes for out and about at night, and summery clothes for the day time. It can get hot!

    Plan what to wear

by gerryexide Written Nov 25, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Luggage and bags: Size of luggage and bags should be based on what is your intention in your visit to HK.. Are you just going to tour or shop around?? Since I am from a tight budget (always!) my intention is just always to look around so I dont bring big luggages..

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: FIRST CHECK THE WEATHER IN HK. you can check www.hko.gov.hk or www.discoverhongkong.com to plan you itinerary likewise you can visualize what you will wear. PLS BE PRACTICAL in your clothes. The most compact and comfortable shorts/shirts to bring. And since you will be WALKING A LOT!, wear the most comfortable shoes/slippers you have..

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: If you will be staying on downtown hotels, there is no need to bring it in medicines. UNLESS you are under medication

Photo Equipment: A digital camera with at lease 1GB memory card + extra battery

    Checked Baggage.

    It all starts here.
    4 more images

Luggage and bags: We are planning on a 4 day whirlwind tour so only the necessary items are going to be packed. Even though we will be traveling lite and the suitcase will not be filled to the point that someone needs to sit on it to get it closed i would still recommend placing a strap / belt around the suitcase to help keep it closed.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Keep in mind the weather conditions at your DESTINATION, not that you leave a winter wonderland and end up on a beach in the Bahamas with nothing to wear but a parka. For this trip it will be t-shirts, shorts and a rain jacket, just checked the weather report, a tropical storm has just passed through the area.

Miscellaneous: Don't worry, Maya was only inspecting the suitcase when i took this photo, she will be traveling with us in the passenger cabin and not in the belly of the aircraft.

    Pack Light

    by koolkatz_76 Written May 21, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: HK goes through the 4 seasons, but fairly mild in comparison to other places, and certainly it doesn't snow.

Around Mar to Oct, this is the hotter part of the year, so pack lighter clothes that you can breathe in.

HK is a great place to shop, so it doesn't hurt to pack less, and fill up with a new wardrobe here.

The weather gets cooler during the rest of the year, and may fall to about 10 degrees C. Still, leave heavy winter coats out, but light coats and sweaters may come in handy.

    Don't bother packing jumpers!!

    by arv1 Written Feb 25, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: The weather here is amazing, and there is no way that you would ever need a jumper!! Or full length clothes, for example jeans! I was more than happy wearing three-quarter length trousers, and shorts!! It can get a tiny bit chilly at night, especially on Star Ferry, but its nothing to worry about.

    So don't pack jumpers!

    Slightly Cold in November

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Best to bring a light sweater/jacket when visiting HK towards the end of the year as the weather is cooler even in the daytime. And if you're like me who gets cold ultra fast you'll need to wear a light sweater/jacket constantly.

    Unexpected shower

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring enough clothes to change as you'll be sweating easily due to the high humidity.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Toiletries are not so cheap here, don't know why.

Photo Equipment: Buy your batteries in Hong Kong, they are reasonably cheap!

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: T-shirt, jeans and sandals will do.

    0.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: It never gets too cold, even between December to February it will only drop to approx. +10 degrees C.
It usually gets very warm during summer time reaching 30-35 degrees C and it's VERY humid. Bring lots of light loose clothes for your shopping and exploration trips aroung HK, something more casual for partying.
If you are there on business it is usual to wear a more formal suit.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Just bring plenty of water esp if you are heading into China. Also if you are heading into mainland China you will need your vaccinations, very important!
