Cafe de Coral is one of Hong Kong's most popular fast food establishments, surpassing Macdonalds & KFC in terms of quality, healthiness & choice. The food is inexpensive, & most of the time you could get a really good meal.
Many times they also has many special promotions, including once where they worked together with the MTR. That time, 10 MTR rides in one week allowed you to trade in for a free coupon (worth around $20-30 HKD). They always bring out new promotions, so if you're interested, look for them....
Cafe de Coral was established in 1968 & has over 100 outlets in Hong Kong. Their motto is " Achieving A Hundred Points of Excellence," & they have won awards for customer satisfaction. Cafe De Coral is a multinational company that has operations throughout Asia, Europe & North America, including 'Manchu Wok'.
Favorite Dish:
My favourite dishes would have to be their baked rice with pork & eggs, cheese baked shrimp, steak, hot pot & shark fin.
Generally I would go there for lunch, however there is more variety for dinner & the prices are cheapest at breakfast time & tea time.
Cafe de Corral (unsure of spelling, but it's the ubiquitous Chinese fast food resataurant with the yellow sign and red writing). [Chinese: ‘副žÙ] Pronounced 'dai GAH lok' (like 'Die Garlock').
Alright, fond childhood memories prompt me to put this here. This is Hong Kong style fast food at its best. Go up to the big-ass-menu-on-the-wall by the cashiers. If you can't read Chinese then you'll have to go even closer, because the English is in very small font. Cashiers tend not to be fluent in English, so if you don't speak then point directly to the item on the wal, or if need be (and I've seen this done before!), remove the item from the wall and show the cashier. Get the receipt and give it to the person behind the food counter and simply wait for your simple, yet fast, cheap and delish meal. Limited seating during meal times though, as it is popular with families.
This fast food chain has more than a hundred branches throughout Hong Kong. Food served from 7am to almost mid-night with many choices. All menus are written in Chinese and English. They even have two branches at the airport.
We came across this restaurant at Harbour City and then saw a few more of them around Hong Kong. Id say its kinda like their local version of maybe Pizza Hut or something like that. They were always busy, usually with locals but with some foreigners as well. The ordering system was quick, menu choices were various and prices were very cheap. So I would highly recommend eating here in Hong Kong.
Favorite Dish:
Frank had Pork chop, rice, vegies and a coke and I had Chicken, eggplant and vermicelli and a coke and total cost was only $76HK which is about $10AUD so for $5 we got a great meal with a drink!
Cafe de Coral is like HK's fastfood. Food are many of the popular dishes in HK. Aside from this, it is very affordable and food you pay for is definitely worth it.
Favorite Dish:
I love the Baked Porkchop, or anything baked.
I also loved Roast duck rice.
The food is cheap and cheerful. It tastes ok and won't make you ill. It's mostly western food with some eastern things too (I think). It's like any other fast food outlet, maybe a little nice than Mc Donald's. It's known as "dai ga lok/lop" in Cantonese.
Favorite Dish:
Mon-gwar-bing (Icy mango slush/smoothie with jelly balls)...mmmmm....
I love these drinks, they're popular in HK and safe to drink normally, but if you have one from Cafe de Coral (yes this is the right spelling) you'll be more certain of it's hygeine. Though I must say I never got sick eating/drinking from street sellers...
Since breakfast is included in our package, our breakfast is to be taken at Cafe De Coral. They served American breakfast, so all good.
Favorite Dish:
Coffee! I love the combination of its bittersweet taste!
