The food is good, but not great. The ambience and the name of the restaurant got me to go in.Felt like I was in Little Italy in NYC. The deal breaker was the big Happy Hour sign displayed and I was thirsty.

Favorite Dish: Lasagna, it was good and I was looking for pasta. My friend had spaghetti and meatballs. Having been out of our country for months I look forward to something different besides Chinese which I love. It was a break and well presented.

Fat Angelo's: New World Italian

With its chequered tablecloths, black-and-white family photographs, and other decor reminiscent of a New World Italian restaurant from the first half of the 20th century, this chain offers good value with its hearty, American renditions of Italian food, including pastas ranging from traditional spaghetti marinara to fettuccine with salmon and main courses that include rosemary roasted chicken, grilled salmon with pesto, pizzas and eggplant Parmesan, all of which come with salad and homemade bread. It's not cheap but the food will definitely fill you up.

The ambience was good and the service excellent.
I thought the food was a little plain (personal choice I like food with sauces)

Everyone had finished eating and was leaving by around 9.00 on a Friday night

Fat Angelo's: Huge Portions

I LOVED Fat Angelo's and ate here almost every night. It's located in the Soho area of central on Elgin street where you can either dine outside or inside. You walk in and Sinatra's performing on the tube and turn towards the bar where you see autographed pictures of Tony Bennett and Old Blue Eyes. The music is jazz and blues and is a constant while you are dining. The food is down home Italian with huge portions. I have to emphasize HUGE. I knew this in advance and ordered from the mini portion menu which is still huge. The dinner roll they brought me was as large as a softball. Dinner consists of salad, entree, drink and coffee. The food is very good comfort food and is cooked to perfection. I tried the lasagne, the linguine pesto, the steak, different salads etc... Very friendly waitstaff, good prices and all around fun and satsfying experience. I wish they were here in the states.

Favorite Dish: The linguine pesto and lasagne.

Fat Angelo's: Italian food with American flair and great pasta

Fat Angelo's

It's not Chinese nor Hong Kongnese nor traditional Italian but you won't regret a stopover at one of Hong Kong's six branches of Fat Angelo's.

Big dishes and free salads with bread are the unique features of this American-style Italian restaurant.

Locations:
Causeway Bay (250 Gloucester Road)
Wanchai (Hopewell Centre - 213 Queen's Road East)
Central (49A-C Elgin Street; Mid-Levels)
TST (The Pinnacle - 8 Minden Avenue)
Tseung Kwan O (Metro City Plaza II)
Tsuen Wan (Panda Hotel)

Favorite Dish: -
1. Bruschetta
2. Arancini
3. Fettucine with Salmon

The below price indication can be achieved by two persons sharing one main and one side dish as well as a drink.
Really depends on what you order and how much you can eat...! ;-)

Fat Angelo: Eating in SOHO

The Steamed Mussels with Creamy Wine Sauce

SOHO is to Hong Kong as Holland Village is to Singapore, a cosy neighbourhood loved by expats and where antique stores, art galleries, drinking holes and fabulous eats can be had. Talking about fabulous eats, FAT ANGELO's is my favourite joint for the moment. Though servings here are huge and the food are not gourmet, it is basic Italian comfort food. Carb-rich italian food always pumps in loads of endorphins to the system. This is also a great joint if you love the Ol' Blue Eyes and the orginal Hollywood Brat Pack. The TV over here runs Dean Martin/Frank Sinatra trivia constantly. Perhaps, the only contention is that this place is always full! You can either wait at the bar for your seat or call ahead to reserve a table, especially in the weekends.

Favorite Dish: Try: The steamed green-lipped mussels with a creamy white wine sauce, it comes with a side salad and bread. You can peel chunks of the bread and dipped them into the savoury sauce, delicious.

Avoid:The Tiramisu. The boudoir biscuit base is decidedly too soggy with too much liquer/rum. Also the cocoa powder topping was a tad too sweet for my liking. Was this instant chocolate drink mix ?

Used to love visiting Fat Angelos on my trips to HK after spending time in Mainland China.

Pretty good value & good quality Italian food at areasonable price for HK standards.

I have been in the Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay & Elgin St branches.

Favorite Dish: Recommend the Arribiata. They also have excellent Pizzas.

Fat Angelo's: Gigantic portions for big appetites!

Fat Angelo's at SoHo

It is very important to know that the portions for the main courses served at Fat Angelo's are gigantic. For instance, if you order a pasta dish, that single dish is enough to feed 2 or 3 diners! However, the server will not tell you this, but instead suggest "down-sizing" the dish for you.

Two of us ordered 1 main course each and even after having one of them down-sized, we still ended up with a whole lot left over. There was so much left that the waiter enquired if we would like to pack up the rest to take away!

If you order your drinks before 7pm, you may be able to enjoy a 1-for-1 special. Call for reservations if you intend to arrive after 7pm on a weekend.

Fat Angelo's has many branches across Hong Kong. There is one at SoHo, another at Causeway Bay, another at Central .. etc. The service is friendly, and the ambience is cozy. The restaurant has smoking and non-smoking sections. The restaurant automatically includes a service charge of 10% in your bill. Major credit cards are accepted.

Favorite Dish: The mussles in cream sauce (starter) was pretty good! And so were the gigantic buns - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside!

they serve good salad, olive oil, and freshly baked bread, with every meal, and they are free!

If you've had enough Chinese food and need a break, Fat Angelo's is a nice alternative.

Portions are HUGE, when they suggest sharing an entree between several people they are not kidding. I got enough chicken parmesan to feed 3 or more people! Pizza was a lot of bread, I like my pizza with more toppings and cheese and sauce so I wouldn't recommend.

Favorite Dish: Chicken parmesan, it was delicious!
