The Chinese always claim that there are five great cuisines in the world: Pekinese, Shanghainese, Cantonese, Szechuan and French. Of course, this is Hong Kong, and if you really are desperate for a burger or a curry or a meat pie, you'll find somewhere ready to serve you. But it seems a pity to come all this way and not to try the wonderful dishes of China's various regional cuisines.
No need to go to any expensive restaurants.
You can find lots of great food here at their food courts or open air food stalls aka 'tai pai tong' (as it's known in Cantonese). It's cheap and good. If you want to try authentic Chinese food, Hongkong is definitely THE place to pig out.
There isn't one, I don't have to remember the name, I just go and eat nd eat, everywhere is my favorite restaurant.
You can either have a great dinner in a nice looking restaurant, well, if you have the $$$.
If not, you can go to the little teashops to have lunch or dinner. If you are a westerner, you will find quite a lot of eyes starring at you. But don't be scare, or don't you get angry easily, you are in Hong Kong.
Favorite Dish: Come on, U either ordering your food in chinese, or point at the picture and say...'this, this, or this' It will be a great adventure for U to try something you doesn't know what it is!
As usual we were looking for places that are authentic - and we found one!!! Lunch break for hundreds of employees and we sat right amongst them and enjoyed noodle soop with chop sticks!!!
If food is your greatest vice, you will be able to satisfy your taste buds as Hong Kong is one of the places with most variety of cuisines in the world
You can't go wrong anywhere in Hong Kong-- at least not anywhere we went. And we just wandered into places we found.
You´ll find those shops and, sometimes, snack-bars anywhere on the Midlevels. Looks good, smells good.
Looking at all this fresh food of which I was not able to identify all, I realized that I could probably go to any traditional restaurant and have a mouthful of delight.
