Tequila Mexican Restaurant & Bar: Tequila

by kevinadams05

Tequila Mexican Restaurant & Bar is located in SOHO by the escalators right next to the Flying Pan. This was the first Mexican restaurant I have been too in Hong Kong. When you enter you are presented with a free basket of chips and salsa to accompany; however, you are charged if you want more chips. The food was good, but not exceptional by any means. I think this is to be expected from a Mexican restaurant in Hong Kong. The menu was extremely limited (I'm told this is also common). The beef burrito was quite good and came with black beans and rice. Tequila is by no means a world class example of Mexican cuisine, but if you are craving Mexican food then it will do the trick.Brunch menu is offered

Monster Burger: Great Japanese Burger Shop

by kevinadams05

Monster Burger is the place to go if you are craving a burger in Hong Kong. This Japanese burger shop is a great place to go if you are craving some fast food. Burgers are 2/3 lb patties served up on what appears to be a wheat sesame bun along with Japanese mayo (sweet and tangy - very nice!) lettuce and tomato. Aside from the classic burger there are plenty of variety on the menu. Monster Burger features everything from a veggie burger (that actually looks good!) to a fish 'n pork burger, which contains both a pork patty and a fish fillet patty. The combo meal include a good size coke and french fries. The fries a crispy and fresh. Prices range from HK$45 to HK$55 for a combo meal.English menuEmployees speak EnglishVegetation options Fish 'n Pork Burger

Miso Cool: New Japanese restaurant

by leigh767

The food here at this new Japanese restaurant isn't bad, but not stellar either. It focuses mainly on bento and ramen meals. In all, I'd probably give it 3.5/5 stars (if that sort of subjective rating is anything to go by!)What's notable is the interior decoration and the huge iPod. Clearly, this is the trendy type of place geared towards the young/hip. On one side of the wall, there're the huge words "Don't Try Too Hard" and the faces of Hollywood's biggest celebrities decorate another wall. The iPod in the middle of the room has a huge list of pre-loaded songs so you can pick and choose on your own. I had the misfortune of not knowing that patrons could play the restaurant's own music and so suffered through one certain song looped 8 times...Miso Cool has, as far as I know, branches in Central and in Quarry Bay. I went to the one is Central and it's just a stone's throw from IFC 2. The...

Mak's Noodle: Don't bother to try this place.

by jnjaltijd

We found this restaurant through the Lonely Planet guide book and we were sorely disappointed. I ordered the wonton noodle soup and it was the smallest bowl of food with noodles that could have came out of a package. There was nothing special about the wonton, either. My boyfriend had a spicy meat noodle dish that was recommended by the waiter and that had the same noodles and bits and pieces of dried meat. The total price was 68 HKD and we were left the restaurant hungry. For a better bowl of wonton soup, walk around the corner and down Stanley street.

Po Lin Monastery Vegeterian Restaurant: Vegetarian Lunch at Po Lin

by Pinat

Po Lin Monastery is famous for providing high quality (really high quality) Buddhist vegetarian cuisine in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, I do not recall the name of any of the food I'd tasted in Po Lin (Check the pic please: Maybe you'd know the names). All I can say is I don't normally like Asian food but in Po Lin I had a really good lunch.

Hee Kee Fried Crab Expert Limited: Hee Kee Fried Crab Expert Limited

by Carino

A local friend suggested this place which is known for their good crabs. We tried their 411 Lockhart Road outlet. We had of course the Chili Crab, which is totally different to the one you may know from Singapore (where the chili is more sauce based). It has a lot of spices (dry), which by itself is great to munch. The crab meat was so tender, it was simply delicious. We also tried their Chinese Beer, which I haven't seen anywhere else so far, which was a great combination. I don't remember the name of the beer...number one or so. We paid about 700 HKD for 3 people, including one crab, some veggies, beef fried rice and beer. Quite a good deal actually.

Changwon Korean Restaurant: Changwon Korean Restaurant

by Carino

I truly love Korean Food, my wife is Korean and I went to Korea many times. That doesn't make me a food expert, but it made me quite picky when it comes to Korean Food. We stayed in Causeway Bay and passed by Changwon Korean Restaurant. The other day, we thought we give it a try. The critics that I read about this place later don't quite match with my taste buds. I think that the quality of the meat is quite poor and the food is not really authentic. Waiters couldn't speak Korean, nor proper English. When I come back to Hong Kong, I would this place a miss or at least try their other outlet in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Frites: Frites

by Carino

Frites is one of those places that lets you forget that you are actually in Asia. It's a Belgium Beer Restaurant, with a great interior that makes you jump to Belgium for an hour over lunch or dinner. They have express lunch specials that includes three courses for a fair price of HKD 98. Since I didn't have a nice Schnitzel for quite a while I went for the Schnitzel and Frites for HKD 170. The Schnitzel you get is huge and quite good. Not the best I ever had, but probably one of the best you get in Asia. Since we went over lunch during my business trip I couldn't try one of their many Belgium Beers.

Apgujeong Korean Tent Bar: Apgujeong Korean Tent Bar

by Carino

From the outside that restaurant doesn't look very appealing. It seems to have been squeezed into a normal appartement, with low ceilings and not much space. But this might be exactly what makes this restaurant so cozy. We had a dish, that is very popular in Hong Kong: Kam Ja Tang which translates (depending on the Korean Dialect) to Potato Stew or Pork Bone Soup, which would be the proper English translation. Kam Ja Tang usually uses the spine of the pig and medium quality pork meat. Of course it doesn't miss the usual Korean spices. Obviously, the dish is rather fatty, but very delicious. No wonder that the Hong Kong Chinese love that dish so much. You can also try Fried beef & chili with lettuce wrap or Seafood and kimchi fried rice. They serve a large variety of Korean Beer and Liquor as well. Business Hours: 2pm to 4m
