    Vendors at the market

Locals and tourists alike love this market and it goes from sundown until about 11pm.

No trip to Hong Kong is complete without a visit to this market. You can even eat dinner here where many vendors set up to serve seafood, fresh juices and satay sticks.

What to buy: You can find everything from jade and umbrellas to flash lights and adult toys.

What to pay: All prices are open for negotiation so never pay the asking price!

    Sky is the limit

There are lot of Hawkers selling clothes, Watches, Bags, Suitcases, Toys, Binaculars, and etc all around. This particular market is operational from 17.00 hours to midnight. I have forgotten the name of that particular street. It is popularly known as Night market, the products are very economical and you can even bargain.

What to buy: Clothes, Watches, Toys, Bags and electronics.

What to pay: For watches around HKD 25.00
    T.Shirts around HKD 10.00 to 25.00

The Temple Street night market in TST..: The night market is fun and has knock offs.

by cjpindc Written Mar 5, 2003 17 reviews
    night market

The night market has hundreds of booths that are set up and taken down everyday. They have the market at night because it is cooler then. Even though we went at night I still had sweat dripping down my back because it was July and very hot at all times. Anyways, the market has tons of things to choose from. It's set up in the streets and is quite a few blocks long. I found some knock off purses and wallets that made good gifts and my husband was happy to browse at all of the oddities.

What to buy: While I was in Hong Kong I was looking for a a watch and a handbag. I did find a handbag at a good price in an upscale store, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted and now I wish I wouldn't have bought it. I am still looking for the perfect watch. The night market has quite a few good knock off purses and watches. I found lots of gifts for family and friends at the night market. You can find a knock off Rolex or just about any kind of watch on almost every street corner in TST so make sure you look around before purchasing. I'm sure the return process might not be easy if you aren't satisfied after buying.

What to pay: I think I spent about $20 usd on knock off gucci, louis, and burberry bags. We priced out some watches and they were usually around $100 usd depending on the brand it was supposed to be.

Temple Street Night Market: Bags, DVD's and Silly things

After the Market a much needed drink (or two)

I found Temple Street Night Market (Jorden MTR, Kowloon) much better than The Ladies Market (Mong Kok, Kowloon) It have much more laid back stall holders and you felt less indimidated. What ever you think do offer very low prices and do not worry about walking away I was buying bags that started at 280HK$ for less than 100HK$ after all the haggeling it is part of the game and you are ripping no one off - if they sell it to you they are making a profit. I know its bad but I did buy 5 DVD's from Temple Street Market and four work great only one does not and that is a little jumpy the first 10 mins then settles down any how for less than 1 pound each who'd complain at one no working.

What to buy: Designer Bags (copys) in fact bags of all kinds I went mad and got 15!!!!!
    DVD's (copys)
Cartoon Character Towels, Plushes and Mobile Phone Charms - quality is okay and they can be very cheap. The towels are useless to use but great to use for sunbathing on or even to pin to a childs wall as decoration.

What to pay: Most bags can be bought from 50p but not much above 18pounds (for a very very good copy of a designer evening bag.

Great place to shop for souvenirs, whether it be tshirts, toys, costume jewelry, fake name brand watches/clothes. Be sure to bargain!

Officially opens at 2:00 pm but really gets going in the later hours after dark

Temple Street is a throng of souvenir stalls, food vendors and fortune tellers.

What to buy: Look for the jade sellers and try to haggle a good price.
