Golf

by dragontml

All golf clubs and their facilities in Hong Kong are for members only, although visitors can play for a limited time at an extra cost. Major tournaments are held at the renowned Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling, which also allows visitors to join as day members. The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau public golf course, beautifully located on an island, was designed by Gary Player. The Hong Kong Tourism Board organises sports and recreation tours on Tuesdays and Fridays which include trips to various golf courses.

Horse Racing

by acemj

The locals are crazy about their horse racing and flock to the track in droves. The Hong Kong Jockey Club (a.k.a. Happy Valley) is a wildly successful venue and an exciting place to lay down a bet and enjoy the races. In fact, there is more money bet on horses here (per capita) than anywhere in the world.

Surfing in the SUPER waves~ ~ ~

by backpackerbaby

Just wanna introduce you a great place for surfing in Hong Kong - Tai Long Wan (on Hong Kong Island, near Shek O. Don't mix up with that one in Sai Kung!!!). Tai Long means Big Wave in Chinese, so you can see how wavy the water is here. Actually, this beach is not for swimming but for surfing/sunbathing. Many surf-lovers, most of which are foreigners, like gathering here on holidays. If you wanna make new surfer friends, this maybe the right place. How to get there?Take a red mini-bus from Shau Kei Wan (outside the MTR Station). It takes around 15 minutes and costs you around HK$8. Don't worry if you don't have any surfing board, you can rent/buy one at the stores near the beach.

"Hey Joe...

by Guantanamera

...where you goin' with that gynecological instrument in yo' hand...?" This unusual new variation on a Hendrixian theme will introduce to you a man named Joe, a Maltese gynecologist living in Hong Kong, and an all-around interesting character... He was the eldest member of our crew, an amicable fellow who amused us with funny stories...

Horses on courses

by PavlH

Take a trip to Happey Valley. The entrance is only HK$10 for the public enclosure.Ignore the McDonalds and eat at the stall in the middle - you can get noodles and rice dishes for a really good price. No gear needed - just a few dollars for bets.

The rendez-vous.

by Guantanamera

Toward the end of the day, our captain took us to a rendez-vous with another junk, filled with some other friends who were also out boating that day, including some French people, who added even more international diversification to our contingent... In this shot, the two junks have been tied together and Virginia has gone over to meet the newcomers...!

An international gathering.

by Guantanamera

Virginia did a great job of creating an international atmosphere for the party... In addition to myself, there was a large group of Italians, a small group of beautiful Hong Kong girls, an Australian, one other American (pictured here, alongside Virginia), and of course, one Maltese gynecologist...!

A small catastrophe.

by Guantanamera

A few members of the party decided to take out the small lifeboat which was attached to the junk and paddle toward the beach... On one of these expeditions, the small boat somehow capsized, overturning its occupants in humorous fashion... But all escaped unharmed and returned to the junk none the worse for it...

Anchored.

by Guantanamera

In this shot, the junk has lowered its anchor near an island in the South China Sea and everyone has by this time cracked open a beer or a bottle of wine and begun to relax a bit... Meanwhile, our wonderful hostess, ever the paragon of prudence, pays homage to her patron saint, Miguel... Surely, VT member kenmerk will recognize the sacred object she holds, venerated by many...

Swimming.

by Guantanamera

Once anchored, we all began diving, jumping and descending into the water in one manner or another... It was a typically hot summer day in Hong Kong, and the cool, refreshing opalescent green waters of the South China Sea were a welcome pleasure...
