Cultural Centre, Hong Kong

Walk along the Avenue of Stars and discover Hollywood in Hong Kong. This is a tourist attraction that pays tribute to the famous Chinese actors of the big screen. You'll see stars and handprints of some of your favorite actors, like this one of Bruce Lee.

You can also get a fantastic panoramic view of Victoria Harbour and the stunning views of Hong Kong skyline.

This is also a fantastic place to also see the spectacular Symphony of Lights show done here nightly beginning at 8pm.

Go for a stroll or jog at the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade. Located behind Hong Kong Cultural Center. What better way to start your day off with a brisk walk or run. Salt air, wonderful views of the Hong Kong Island skyline. Best in the morning especially in the summer when it can get extremely hot in the afternoon.

The most important museums of Hong Kong are concentrated in a modern complex by the bay, in Kowloon side, the Cultural Centre. The most visited are the Art museum, still with a section in Flagstaff house, and the History Museum.

Easy to identify and reach, it shares its part in the night Festival of Lights around the bay.

The southern part of Kowloon is called Tsimshatsui. This place is very popular with tourists. They love doing shopping in countless shops, walking along waterfront promenade and looking at Victoria Harbour on the other side. The pink building on the left is Hong Kong Cultural Centre. It houses concert halls, exhibition halls and theatre. Have you noticed that tha facade has no windows? The only explanation seems to be that nothing could compete with beautiful view of the harbour, so to let the guests concentrate on other things it was better not to make windows.

The Tsim Sha Tsui Cultural Center was built between 1980 and 1991. It includes the really interesting Space Museum, a concert hall, a theater, several other performance and exhibition halls, and the Museum of Art.

This famous HK landmark is on the Kowloon Promenade next to the Art Museum and just a short walk from the Star Ferry Terminal. Besides the Clock tower this area of the promenade is the best for viewing the HK skyline across the bay.

Take some time off from Hong Kong Island & head for Kowloon where you'll find the CULTURAL CENTRE that offers great variety of choices of concerts & dramas. Many renowned orchestra ensembles & opera arias performed here. The Cultural Centre holds a wide range of musical performances & tickets are very affordable. This complex not only houses a concert hall but also two v. interesting museums, the MUSEUM OF ART & the SPACE MUSEUM (& ZEISS PLANETARIUM).

Do take the STAR FERRY from HK & you'll be treated with a dose of the best harbor scenery in the world. The ride is very cheap (in fact cheaper than the subway) & the view is astonishing, especially at night; it's so romantic!!! After about 15 minutes you'll arrive at Ocean Terminal. Here, there's many outlets for you to shop around.

Free Programmes are presented regularly on every Thursday and Saturday at the Foyer of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre for the enjoyment of the public. To promote Chinese culture and traditional arts, the Hong Kong Cultural Centre will arrange various Chinese arts programmes on the first Thursday or Saturday of each month in the main foyer. Admission is free.

The Cultural Centre is a landmark on the waterfront. I spent many a lovely night going to very inexpensive concerts here. Hong Kong has its own Philharmonic Orchestra and the HK Opera Society regularly performs there The building itself is very modern and sculptured and was completed in 1898. it includes a 2,100 seat Concert Hall and a 1,750 seat Grand Theatre with a small 500 seat Studio Theatre. At lunchtime on Wednesdays there is was a free recital. The Museum of Art and the Space Museum are also down there.
