The train system is easy to understand. Its clean ,fast , effecient and reliable. We bought a daily pass that cost hk$50 for unlimited rides within 24hrs. There are 6 lines that covers urban areas in kowloon, hongkong island and lantau island. You could actually arrive in hkg chek lap kok airport and take a train to the city within 25minutes. There is an Airport express from the airport to the city and it costs hk$100 for single or hk$180 for return within 1mth. Better still there is a 3days value ticket at hk$300 for 2 return trip plus 3days unlimited mtr ride. There is also a disney mtr line which brings you to Disneyland Hongkong in Lantau island.

Hong Kong is pretty well connected by the MTR, including connecting islands (Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and Lantau Island)

The frequency of MTR is superb and punctual. The information is clear and concise too. There is no problem for a new traveller to get around Hong Kong just by the MTR alone.

There is this feature in the MTR that indicates the next station that the train is approaching. We all think that this is a great feature, as compared to Singapore's system of announcement, which most of the time cannot be heard due to the noise.

The MTR is also very handicapped friendly.

MTR station in HongKong

MTR network in HK is very efficient. It is easy to use and directions are clearly marked.
Before going to MTR take a look at a map of HK and check on which street you want to go as there are several Exits. Only MongKok station has eighteen Exits!

Some metrostations has a free internet access stands as well. Time is limited to 15mins. It is quick and handy.

The MTR operates also between Kowloon and Hongkong island. Central (HK island) to Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon) the fare is 9 HKD.

MTR operates around 6am till midnight.

The MTR is the fast, modern and efficient underground railway ystem that serves citizens of HK and tourist. It consists of six MTR lines - the Kwun Tong Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Island Line, Tung Chung line, Tseung Kwan O Line and the last one will be, Disneyland Resort Line. Signs for the system can be easily found near stations at street level. Once you are inside, you can buy your ticket or Octopus Card for the journe at the Ticket Issuing machines or the customer service counters.

After passing through the entry gate, you can take the train by following the signs to the platform for your destination. On arrival, pass through the exit gate and leave the station via the street exit of your own choice.

Entrance to Lam Tin MTR station, Kowloon.

Very clean, surrealistic with the blind guide ping sounds. Don't eat, don't smoke, don't blow your nose! Very crowded entrances and exits and lots of long walks underground at some stations before you get to the train platform.

Getting around hong kong is as easy as abc with the mtr system. MTR route maps and commentaries are in english, mandarin and cantonese and should pose no problem for an average traveller who understands english. Almost all the places of attractions which i visited are accessible via the MTR.

You can learn a lot about the mentality of

discretion reject such application or may authorize repayment of the whole or any part of
the surcharge or the remaining value on the delivered up ticket.

Above ground it's humid...
There's hustle and bustle.
Below ground it's cooler and calmer!
Watching the people travelling
sometimes a whole family,
all 3 generations.
Or just children in their
pristine white school uniforms.
