Very clean, surrealistic with the blind guide ping sounds. Don't eat, don't smoke, don't blow your nose! Very crowded entrances and exits and lots of long walks underground at some stations before you get to the train platform.

Getting around hong kong is as easy as abc with the mtr system. MTR route maps and commentaries are in english, mandarin and cantonese and should pose no problem for an average traveller who understands english. Almost all the places of attractions which i visited are accessible via the MTR.

You can learn a lot about the mentality of
a nation by seeing the small print in By Laws..
I just took a few examples

Above ground it's humid...
There's hustle and bustle.
Below ground it's cooler and calmer!
Watching the people travelling
sometimes a whole family,
all 3 generations.
Or just children in their
pristine white school uniforms.

The Mass Transit Railway (MTR) is one of the most used transit systems in the world. It is clean, reliable and safe. It runs below ground in certain areas and above ground in certain areas. It is the quickest way to the airport and between Kowloon and HK Island. You will need to touch the card at the entrances and the exits.

Mass Transit Railway (MTR) is a good alternative to get around Hong Kong.
There are 5 different lines: blue, red, green, purple, and orange.
The closest MTR station from the Hong Kong International Airport is located in Tung Chung (the Orange Line). This line can take you to Kowloon and the Central Station in Hong Kong Island.
To get to Tung Chung MTR station, take Bus S1 or S64 from the bus stop outside the arrival hall. Close to the arrival hall B, there is an elevator, which can take you downstair (or walk down the stair next to the elevator). When you get out of the evelator, turn right. The first bus stop there is for bus S1 and S64.
For more information, check the website.

The MTR is one very important form of transportation in HK. It is reasonably priced. :) do be careful when buying tickets at the ticket machines. some beggars will just stick their hands and take yr change. so do take note!
the blinking lights that indicate which station that u're at is a very clever & innovative idea. :) thumbs up! i liked the computers with internet access at certain MTR stations. a great way to keep in touch with yr family even though u're away.
overall, i found the MTR to be one of the best forms of transport as it's rather hassle free & convenient.

The Disneyland Resort Line was opened on September 12, 2005. It runs from Sunny Bay station on the Tung Chung Line, to the Disneyland Resort station.
The trains are pretty awesome, with Mickey Mouse shapped windows, Mickey Mouse shapped handles, statues of all your favorite Disney characters, and soft comfortable seats.
Fares can range depending on where you are coming from, but a one way ticket from Central Station on Hong Kong Island to Disneyland Resort Station, will cost you $26HKD ($3.30 USD) Thas pretty cheap!
The trains are pretty cool, and once you see them, you start to really get excited knowing you are almost there.

The MTR (Mass Transit Railway) is a easy, convenient, safe and a cheap way to get around Hong Kong. The MTR started with one line in 1979 and has since expanded to 7 lines servicing 52 stations.
It is easy to get the station names mixed up, with names like Tsuen Wan, Tseung Kwan, Kwai Hing, Kwai Fong, Shek Kip Mei and Shau Kei Wan, After a while they just all look the same, but you can manage.
Fares are a lot cheaper then taxis, about 1/4 the price, and ussually just as fast. You can only buy one way tickets, so if you are a visitor to Hong Kong, and staying for a few days or more, it may be wise to purchase an Octopus Card (Electronic Smart Card) which is rechargeable and can save you a few dollars on each ride.
The MTR is the way to get around Hong Kong. Unless you are rich and prefer door to door service with taxis.
