Cathay Pacific has daily...

by jglenn

Cathay Pacific has daily flights from the US & Canada, and dozens of other places as well.Metro is great but sometimes overcrowded. The airport express takes you from CLK to Hong Kong station in 23 minutes for 100 HKD (13 bucks) round trip.

Hong Kong International...

by Axel-M

Hong Kong International Airport Visitors to Hong Kong are served by one of the world's largest and most modern airports. Situated at Chek Lap Kok on Lantau Island, Hong Kong International Airport truly makes Hong Kong the gateway to Asia. Operated by the MTR Corporation, the high-speed Airport Express (AEL) rail service takes passengers to Hong Kong Station in Central, via Tsing Yi and Kowloon, in only 23 minutes. The one-way adult fare from the airport to Hong Kong Island is HK$90. Trains run every 10 minutes from 5:50am-1:00am daily and free shuttle-bus services to major hotels are available for AEL users. There are more than 30 franchised bus routes from the airport, including nine Airbus services that have fewer stops than conventional buses. Airbus fares range between HK$14 and HK$45. Ferry links between Chek Lap Kok Pier and Tuen Mun Pier in the New Territories run from...

From Canada ... Cathay Pacific has daily flights from Vancouver and Toronto. The MTR system is the best(rapid transit) available right from Chep Lap Kok airport travels throughout the city. A transit pass allows you to travel on the trams and ferries as well. Tours can be arranged by the HongKong tourist board locally or through your travel agent prior to leaving home.

I did about 40 mins. flight from KLIA to Changi. Another 1- hour transit in Spore. Then a 4-hour flight to Chek Lap Kok. Enjoyable flight on board SIA.Locate and USE the MTR (Mass Transit Railway). It's the best way to get around. Taxis can cost a fortune. I spent, if I remember correctly, HK$35 to get from Causeway Bay (in front of Times Square) to Lan Kwai Fong, when it only takes HK$9 to get from Central MTR (a short walk from Lan Kwai Fong) to Causeway Bay MTR station (in Times Square itself).

It is absolutely unnecessary to rent a car in Hong Kong. There are just too many types of public transportation to bring you from one place to another. The Mass Transit Railway subway system (MTR) is the fastest and most efficient way of getting around town. It runs not only along the north side of Hong Kong Island, but also from Central across the harbour to divide into east and west branches in Kowloon. Be sure to check up the stored-value Octopus card if you travel frequently, which most probably you will. It can be used to travel on the MTR, KCR, LRT, some cross-harbour and city buses, some ferries and the Airport Express. The tram system runs east-west along the north side of Hong Kong Island, and provides a leisure ride for sight-seers with grandstand view of city life. The back seat of the upper deck has always been my favorite spot where I watch the activities of the vibrant...

The Mass Transit Railway...

The Mass Transit Railway (MTR)is proabably the best way to get around Hong Kong. Buy an Octopus card for $150 ($50 is deposit) and it allows you to travel on most public transport in Hong Kong. You use up credit on the card for each journey. Just place the card on th pad at the start and finish of your journey and it deduts the relvant amount. Run out of money ad you can just recharge it!! Marvelous!

Oh gee, just wanna ask the map makers if they can make a better map. You know, Hong Kong map is very complicated!!MTR or the underground is also so crowded in the morning and after work. You couldn't fight with the local people so better start your journey after 9:00 am. Taking a tram is also a good idea but the bus, I don't think so.

The old airport used to weave through buildings for a landing. And the view was amazing! Now you will have to settle for the new airport Chep Lop Kok located further away in Lantau island. You have several options: 1. MTR - Mass Transit Railways which loops through many places. 2. Star Ferry which takes you across to and from Kowloon and Hong Kong. HK$2.20 one-way 3. You should try the trams - Ding Ding. You should try these before HK replaces them with new modern trams4. Double-decker buses. Very comfortable air-conditioned buses but whew! hang on tight because those bus drivers belong to the race track... 5. Good ole taxis. Take a business card of your accommodation. Sometimes you will end up with some taxi drivers who are not too familiar with English...

There are many types of the convienient public transportation system in Hong Kong.(1) Subway - It is the most convient one but it is underground so that you cannot have a view of the city in the train. Buy the Octobus card at the airport railway station or any subway station. It is a prepaid card. You can refund the money at the airport railway station before you left Hong Kong.(2) Tram - It is a slow train along the main business area in Hong Kong island. It would be interesting for you to take it to go shopping in Central, Admiralty, Wanchi and Causeway Bay.(3) Star Ferry - You should try to take it once at the day time and once at the night time from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui or vice versa to have the view of the skyline of Hong Kong Island along Victoria Harbour.(4) Bus - It is not easy for the outsider to understand the route of the bus. You may need to ask the local people for the...
