If you are planning on spending a day or two in Macau it's a good idea to book your accomodation at the Shun Tak Centre in Hong Kong.
I got a great price for the Hotel Lisboa. You can book your ferry ticket at the same time.

Turbo Cat

We took the Turbo Jet catamaran to and from Macau one day. It was a great trip and took about an hour. It was very cheap (about HK$130 at the time) and comfortable.

We were allowed to take a hand luggage up to 10 kgs each, although we only took one small backpack for our day trip.

The easiest way from Hong Kong to Macau and vice versa is catch one of the frequent Turbojet ferries.

Upon reaching Tsim Sha Tsui Terminal, get a First Ferry boat ticket to Macao at 152 HKD. The price during weekday will be cheaper by 20HKD.
