Lakhmandal is a beautiful village situated above the yamuna banks,a sleepy and simple village of the hills.
Past Kempty falls, 75 kms on the Mussoorie-Yamnotri road lies Lakhamandal, having a historical as well as mythological significance. It figures prominently in the annals of Mahabharata. Legend has it that the Kaurvas made a shelter house and conspired to burn the Pandavas alive here. Lakhmandal is situated on the bank of Yamuna at a distance of 35 kms. From Chakrata and 128 kms. from Dehra Dun. To the antiquarian it provides considerable material of interest. It contains temples dedicated to Diva, The five pandava brothers, Parasuram and Kedar. In order to burn the Pandavas, the Kauravas had built their 'Laksha Grah' (house of lac). The two remarkable well executed figures in stone of Arjuna and the other of Bhima are available in the village.

Tiger Fall is a water ballad with no equal. Falling gracefully from a height of 50 rnts. Tiger Fall creates a small pond which renders an enchanting effect to the picturesque surroundings.
It is 17 km from chakrata.the way is quite tricky as no direction is gvn,so you have to ask people to reach there. Most of the discription in the internet does not match tiger falls, some have written about picnic spot however i could see people's field near the falls. You have to walk 1 km downhill to reach the falls, which is hidden in the valley below.just follow the small stream which can be seen from the road above.

Chakrata is a secluded hill station, around 100kms North west of Dehra Dun. It occupies two hills known as Chakrata and Kilani. Established as a British cantonment by Col. Humes in 1866, it is presently a restricted military area and a hub of elite Special Indian forces. Administratively it is a subdivision of the Dehra Dun District. According to the 2001 Census, its total population is 3497!!
For all practical purposes Chakrata is out of bounds for foreigners.
Chakrata is not a place to have a jam packed tour menu. Just sit back and relax and take the fresh air in. If you do yoga or are a singer, there is nothing better than an early morning practice.
Sadar Bazaar, Chinta Haran temple, Chirmiri , Tiger Falls are a few things one should do, besides the treks in the jungles.
1hrs drive away from Chakrata on Tuni Road is a beautiful place called Deo Van or "Gods own forest" and another hour away is Koti Kanasar.

Address: Chakrata Block, Dehra Dun District, Uttaranchal
Website: http://www.pandeyji.com/chakrata/chakrata.cfm
Chakrata is a military area full of hush hush Indian defence installations. So, if you are a foreign tourist, you should know, that foreigners are not allowed in the area.
Fun Alternatives: Alternative is to apply for permission months in advance to the Uttaranchal Government, which is actually of no use.
