SANCTUM SANCTORUM OF THE DEITY

there are temples where devotees throng but you dont get peace of mind. there are temples which by their sheer siplicity draw you back at every opportunity.
the mallikarjun temple at sitalayangiri point in bababudan hills is one such place.
serene high in spiritual index and its greatness is its simplicity.
there is another shrine on top of mullayangiri peak which helps you to with a long needed spiritual bliss.
for starters regular crowds are a rarity here.god has made his abode here away from mankind.no regular temple traps like flower and memento stalls.nothing comes between you your prayers and your connection to the almighty.the sanctum sanctoru is simple and the you are the only one who rings the temple bells and you can hear the silence break as you let the almighty know of your arrival at his doorstep.
you can sit here for hours together meditating without anyone disturbing you.
the shrine dedicated to lord shiva has a small perenially running stream in sanctunm sanctorum.
you can plan the mullayangiri trek in morning and follow up with some solitude at the temple.
the spires are beautiful to watch at sunrise and sunset and the beauty of the temple is seeen when climbing up to mullayangiri peak.

A drive thru the Bhadra wildlife sanctuary leaves you with a good rattle of all the bones in your body as the road teaches you to search for tiny spaces that have no pot holes! However the scenery is breath taking, not much wildlife spotting though unless you are a bird watcher :)

A visit to the Dattatreya peeta in Bababudabgiri hills is a must for those who love walking thru tall grass in mist :) Even though the caves were closed for public sighting this drive was memorable for us as we just parked our car and took off on a short trek thru these hills, truly unforgettable as we sighted many peaks, lakes and birds in this short trek.

Located 20 kms from chikmagalur is ayyenkere lake.the malnad region is dotted with such pleasant surprises.

ayyenkere lake is beautiful for a nature lover its a dream come true.

time your visit for the evening so that you can see the natures colors in all their magnificent beauty.preferably plan the trip on same evening of your arrival.start early so you dont get disappointed after sunset. leave early afterwards as the area is isolated.

ayyenkere lake has a interesting pyramid shaped peak which is omnipresent. i could not get more deatils of this peak.its presence adds to the mystery and beauty of ayyenkere.

in the post monsson season when i visited ayyenkere the samll bund /dam which holds its waters was overflowing and the lake was filled upto its brim.

the sunsets in malnad at chikmagalur agumbe and sringeri hills are magnificent with riot of colors in the sky.
