I love seafood and Digha is a superb source for seafood. There are many cheap “restaurants” all over Digha, serving cheap, but excellent Bengali dishes. There are some expensive restaurants where continental food is available, serving delicious food.
Digha is a great place to enjoy fish cuisine for which Bengal is famous for. Try Pomfret, Rohu, Parshe, Bhetki and Tiger Prawns or Crabs. In the evening look for fried fish on the sea front in Digha. There are a couple of restaurants with attached bars too.

Visit other places like Chandaneswer Temple.
Visit Jetty near Chandaneswer Temple were you find fresh FISH get offloaded from trawlers.

Though people have made it a beach for fun, but heart and heart it remains a beach for the fisherman, who live by the sea. It is the only source of their livelihood. But since the invention of Deep sea fishing Trawlers their livelihood has become limited. The trawlers get more fish and the bigger fish, who get more value. We witnessed fishing by the country boats and auction of fishes at the beach.

Laze around in Digha and watch the sea and its' charm. Since it is the nearest Beach from Kolkata, it has emerged as a relaxing destination with in very short time and budget. It is also a very popular destination for the movie makers at a affordable cost. We also witnessed a shooting going on for a Bengali movie.

It is difficult to pass the evening as per your choice in Digha. So what do you do in the evening? Just behave like Romans in Rome, well I mean do exactly what the locals and people from Calcutta do. Just take a stroll of the Beach, eat fresh fish fry, watch the crowd, watch the shops selling sea shells or just watch the sea. But please dont go very near to the sea as in the Evening Digha sea becomes very rough.

This beach has no clear blue water as the depth of the Sea is less. The real pleasure of Bathing in other Indian beaches like Goa, Kovalam, Vizag, Puri is not there. But what is available people make use of it, to the most.

What do you do in Sea Beach ? You laze around, bath, run , have some drinks, come back again and again. Well we did exactly we could do at Digha. The temperature was over 38-39 degrees Celcius and humidity at 100%, we were expecting some rain. But God was kind to us. There was no rain but the kids had un limited fun in whatever little time they found to go to the beach.
