long term visa to India

by cochinjew

Currently you can enter and once you leave you have to wait two months and they are fairly strict about that. Many asian countries allow you long term residence if you can show money in the bank and a source of money every month. But dont expect to live that cheaply in any of the south eastern asian countries..Buying property in India does not give you any visa priority. If you have any ancestors who were from India, that would give you a permanent visa called Overseas Citizen of India... up to generation 4There are 11 million Illegal Immigrants in USA and I am sure there are quite a few in India as well from Bangaladesh Pakistan nepal and Myanmar..Try to get in touch with an immigration lawyer in India and they can help you plan the best way. Pure Energie

by NaliniGanapati

Oh so many things.. First is the high pure energy of life that permeates every sinew of my being when I'm there. I could really tell the tangible difference of feeling, once I returned to the USA (Los Angeles). The Temple's, the sea, the rice paddy fields, wondering sadhu's(holy men).. Bulls, cows everywhere. Jst seeing a man walking his elephant in the night. India is a big place, I was in the Southern part for my first trip.. The Temple's were my main reason for going. Its a very magical experience..Keep in mind if you go to the temples and you are a foreigner , some temple's will not allow you in.. It's a very sacred time for pilgrims and they are protective of the temple's, Most temple's will allow you in..Also you will need to be in traditional Indian attire.. :o) I visited a Temple called Rameshwaram. IN this temple there are 21 sacred wells. For Hindu's this is a place where one...

Best Travel time to Rajasthan

by rajkhan11

from Oct till Middle of the march is the best time to go in Rajasthan. there would not be any rain at all. prety good weather though its been a little warm by this time around and expected to be gone a bit colder during the night.its a begining of the season but still could get better price then those high peak months Of nov and Dec.you can not be picky and many places to offer many and that too different stuffs. compeletely a colorful place.....go out and grab the fun!!!

Visiting the Himalayas

by needtothinkharder

You cannot do this in Feb - March. Ladakh (Leh) is inaccessible at the time. Even Srinagar is not easy to reach. You should be able to do Manali, Dharamsala and other places though. Best time to do this. Start in late May - late June. You mean 8 days for ALL these places?! Its not enough. And I mean its simply not enough. Not because you will see so many things but travel times are restrictive. If you have only 8 days and no more, stick to either one of these 3 sections - 1. Dharamsala+Dalhousie+Manali; 2. Manali+Ladakh or 3. Srinagar+Jammu+Kashmir valleyThere are quite a few good ones out there. I can also help. See my profile. With a small kid, acclimatization is going to be a big issue and medical facilities are not very readily available. Another reason why you should not rush up or down slopes in a hurry. The Himalayas are a young, dynamic range. Roads often get blocked by landslides...

about lucknow city

by Sameer_Kumar

Lucknow is nice city with small airport and everything is not so far off. Hazratganj is beautiful market where you can enjoy your evening. Chicken is speciality food of the town and there are many types available but Indian taste is very spicy so if you wish to be light taste you must pre inform the preparator r take your own bread along with you. City has many places to visit. Some of the major and famous shopping places in Lucknow are Aminabad, Kapoorthala, Hazratganj and Janpath. Best transport is your own feet, but you can take cycle rickshaw for short distances and auto rickshaw for long distances (3-10 kilometers). Traffic is slow but if you haave time you can enjoy this too.Tourist Attractions:Bara Imambara,British Residency,Chattar Manzil,Jama Masjid,Lucknow,Rumi Darwaza etc

How Much to Tip??

by Donna_in_India

N/ATipping is fairly common in India with the exception of rickshaw drivers or taxi drivers, unless you hire them for the day (although a few rupees or rounding up the fare is always appreciated). These amounts are meant as a guideline. Tip ONLY in rupees, not any other currency. Check to see if a service charge has already been added to any bill.Waiters - generally 10-15 percent of the bill in upscale places, in smaller places (local/budget) tip Rs. 10-20.Bellmen - Rs. 50 - 100 (depending on how much luggage).Hotel Doorman - Rs. 50-100 when you checkout.Hotel Maid - Rs. 100-200 for your stay (5+ days). Be sure to hand deliver.Room Service - Rs. 20-50. (20 for smaller things, 50 for meal delivery).Drivers/ Guides - half day/ Full day sightseeing trips Rs. 150 - 250.Drivers/ Guides - long trips spread over many days Rs. 150 - 200 Per traveller/ day.Porters (train stations/airports) - set...

ELAND HOLIDAYS Travel Agency located in New Delhi

by bezauBernd

India Travel Agent - India Travel Agency located in New DelhiIn October 2010 I planned a 5* Inda round trip. I contacted several agencies. I felt a little insecure, dealing with a company located in India, having no references. So before transfering money to the agency, I tried to get some "security" by searching the web for the company and for their staff. I finally found the company and their staff at "Facebook" and at "Xing". So at least I knew they were existing and it wasn't a fake company - so I decided to book my trip with them and to transfer the money. As I did not find the company here, at VirtualTourist, I thought I write about the Travel Agency called ELAND HOLIDAYS as some kind of a reference. I do not work for this company and do not get any commision! I just want to promote their business as they really did a perfect job for us! I can strongly recommend ELAND HOLIDAYS'...

Ambassador Classic

by georeiser

Ambassador Classic ("The king of Indian roads") is a car manufactured by Hindustan Motors of India. It has been in production since 1948 with few modifications or changes. And you really feel it when you enter the car. The car is a slow rattletrap with bad brakes. I felt unsecure in the car. Many taxis in India are an Ambassador Classic.

money money money

by smirnofforiginal

Rupees are not available outside of India.Regardless of popular belief the airport is not always the best rate of exchange offered but obviously you will need to change a certain amount of money there because India is a cash palce and everytime you turn around you have to hand it out for one reason or another!ALWAYS opt for the small demoniation of notes you can be given. Airports will try to send you away carrying 1000 rupee notes - you will have a terrible time trying to use them anywhere because whilst everybody takes your small change nobody ever has change to give you! The best notes are 10 rupees and 50 rupees although having a few hundreds doesn't hurt as most places of interest will charge foreign visitors 100 rupees upwards.
