Conversion of foreign currency

by vpas

I sincerely advise you *not to trade any currency directly to buy items in india(that is do not give foreign currency directly to buy things)you dont get a good deal that way.*you should not do double conversion, just take what you have and convert it into rupess when you come here from an authorised dealer.(THAT is dont convert pounds into dollars and then the dollars into rupees;just make it a single conversion which will help you save on the commission and exchange costs)*if you have an atm, carry only minimum required and the rest you can just get from you atm machine here.

Clothing

by PierreZA

It can get very hot and humid in India I found that T-shirts are not the best option, as it does not ”breathe” very well. Cotton shirts are much better. When visiting temples/mosques, remember to remove your shoes before entering. Special dress codes may be required for women.I was in Delhi during December/January and it was quite cold. It seems that you do need warm clothes for the winter in Delhi.

Spiritual India...

by nitendra.khatri

Hello there,First n foremost, welcome to India- the Land of Spirituality...indeed it is a wise decision to visit this place which is inhibited by more than a billion people but i guess not even 1% is spiritual out of the total...so wat makes this country so unique...well, the simple reason that the rest 99% is also not atheist and are on the way to their spiritual journey, no matter he is a leader, doctor, engineer or anyone for that matter and without sounding too offending, people here do not go to spiritual places in vacations... it is an ongoing process...this is India...well, almost at all the places u will find the real spiritual flavour with some local touch, but some of the famous places are really world known by now... am sure google will fetch u some results for the same...as for some local knowledge , i would suggest u must visit Vrandavan once n know wat a spiritual city is...

Monsoon season in India

by bkarjee

The monsoon season engulfs most of India between June and August and it is wet season basically. There are periods of intense rain in most parts of India and so much so that life can come to a stansdtill in some parts. Many areas get flooded (specially states like Assam, Bihar, Gujarat (sometimes)). Bangalore is not impacted as much. Delhi had its share of rain in the begining of Monsoon season in early June. Now, it is slightly better. But there is no flooding in Delhi and life is normal. But I'll say, it is not a good season to go around most of the places in India.

Monsoon 'mazaa'(mazaa in hindi means fun)

by vpas

Mumbai is a really wet place during the monsoons.Bring your rain coat for sure.take anti malarial before you come(not that there is an epidemic right now,but the monsoon surely brings a rise in the mosquito population. So better to be careful.Bring a combination of warm and cool clothes. The weather would be ranging from humid stickiness to chillness.Bring clothes that would dry easily(the blended variety)You get medicines if required, easily in India.Medical doctors are generally good and dependable if you go to a reputed hospital. So dont worry on that account.Better to avoid eating on the roadside eateries.Stick to mid range or upscale restraurants.Avoid eating uncooked food, like salads.Only sealed mineral water to be had(insist on the seal to be opened in front of you in restraunts)Dont let my precaution list scare you!Monsoon is a lovely time to be here. The welcoming green freshness...

Kerala Wonderful Destination for Monsoon tourism

by radhikajain

People have a common thought that it is not good to visit India during monsoon, as the heavy rains lash the most cities. However, I would like to say you that monsoon tourism has emerged as a new theme in India for last few years. Kerala is one such spot which is best to visit during monsoon. Combining Ayurveda with Monsoon is a wonderful vacation idea. You may enjoy the rainy season at its best in kerala. Monsoon packages are offered by the travel agents, keeping in mind the requirments of global trotters. You may book a suitable package through the website http://www.vacationsindia.com/
