Waves is a lovely ambient restaurant which runs along side the small Kerkar Art Gallery (free entry) in south Calangute. All the art is done by the same artist along a sea theme with an ehtnic-indian feel to it. The restaurant was designed by the artist and is in keeping with his work.
Although the menu is limited the food available is delicious and if it's quiet they'll be willing to bend some recipes a little or cook you up something that isn't really on the menu. It's a small place but very chilled out and the waiters aren't pushy.
Favorite Dish: Local recipe mussels in garlic sauce, absolutely divine!

When we walked past this place I have to say that the name nearly put me off!! But thankfully the fragrant frangipani trees, the sumptuous smelling food and the lovely staff managed to entice us in and we were not disappointed! The Jungle Village offers al fresco dining under the sweet smelling frangipani blossoms and creates a wonderful ambience for that would make anyone immediately relaxed. The menu, although quite simple offers lovingly prepared dishes would delight any palate. Offering the best fillet steaks in Goa, you can also indulge in divine tasting barbequed prawns and firey spicey chicken dishes. For those that miss their habitual Sunday Roasts; Jungle Village puts on a Sunday Dinner to die for ...ok, I never tried it myself (not my thing) but it looked lovely! One of the best things about this restaurant is the staff. Owned by a retired English couple, the standards are kept high and the welcome is always a warm one. ( they even light mosquito coils under your table to prevent you from being on the menu with the bugs!) Please dont miss this place out from your visit....its such a treat to find yourself here ....finally if you make it, say hello to Vishul......the best waiter in GOA!!!
Favorite Dish: everything!! kingfish, fillet steak, spring rolls, tiger prawns yum yum!

The Nepali and indian food in this resteraunt is delicious I can reccomend both the sizzlers meat or veggie the mo mos again both meat and veggie and especially the spicy bean stew with freshly baked home made bread. Service may appear a little slow but all dishes are freshly cooked to order and you can taste the difference. The surroundings are simple but pleasant tibetan music eases the wait for dishes to appear and prices are really reasonable with a main course being less than five or six dollars.
Favorite Dish: The two dishes we both adore are the chicken sizzler which would feed two people if my wife were inclined to share :>)} and for me the spicy bean stew, although I am not vegetarian this is a delightful lunch dish and tasty as opposed to being "hot". The homemade bread served with this is as good as any I have had anywhere in the world ( I am a baker by trade and know my breads) It is unlike any bread I have ever tasted.

We just loved this restaurant..It was just a short walk from our hotel..Open air, family owned, friendly. small..great food for very cheap, we ate here more than anywhere else in Goa!! Most evenings we ate here it was usually just around Rs. 100 - 200 including beer!!
Favorite Dish: My favorite dish was the Dal Fry and Garlic Chapati..I have never tased such good Dal in my life, i ordered it every time we went (along with other dishes) and at Rs. 35 you just can't go wrong..There sizzling beef dish was also delicious as was anything else we ate!!

Absolutely fab and different. A bit out of the ordinary but . clearly, similarities to Thai. Beautifully presented food and fantastic mix of flavours/spices. Typical ' fusion' type atmosphere. Chef worked in London and now running own restaurant. he has done 2 seasons here , (as of 2006)
This is an upmarket restaurant but we walked away with paying about (eq. 12 pound), having 3 starters (between two people) , main courses, including wine and after dinner brandies and coffee.
This is a must for 'foodies' out there. Other I would recommend for that extra special or last night on holiday is Sublime ( Baga, by the Baga Bridge) and The French Restaurant, Baga. I'll make entries on these elswhere.
Favorite Dish: Starters : Burmese spring rolls
Main : King shrimp.

A terrific little place for a bit of relaxation, a good cup of tea or coffee, a light snack or a yummy home made cake or biscuit.
Favorite Dish: My favourite cake was the home made carrot cake served with a spoonful of icecream. They also make delicious chocolate cake and lemon and raison muffins. They also do sandwiches and salads, a variety of refreshing drinks, assortment of teas and coffees. You can also purchase a variety of homemade produce from the shop.

The best Goan food in Goa. It is home cooked and cooked with lots of feel.
The owner and chef Mr. Ivan Lawrance is an ex-professor in Goa catering college and served on cruise ships for over 20yrs. His wife Ms. Lumina does most of traditional dishes. Very nice place to eat a quiet dinner feeling a local atmosphere.
Advance reservation recommended.

One of the first places we stopped at for authentic local Goan food. Britto's does a really great job with their Goan dishes and their other European dishes. They seem to be the place to go for good food of any taste. Right off of Baga beach they have a great view and have another dining area with a stage for live bands to play. Their Goan menu is fairly diverse and their dessert menu is extensive. Feni is also served either caju or palm, as well as plenty of Kingfisher.
Favorite Dish: Anything you try that is Goan if you haven't had it before-this is the place to try it. They have quite a few of the most well known Goan dishes on the menu. The sorpotel here (a local Goan dish that is a type of pork stew) is very spicy. It may always be like that. What I was able to eat was really good.
Britto's desserts are also very good. I had a mango custard cake which was really great.
