Food - a spicy, heady concoction of Goan cuisine, complemented by some delicious Mediterranean fare. Of course, it's mandatory to wash down whatever you're having with a large Heineken. Cheers!

Ambience - once the sun sets, the whole place is bathed in a gorgeous red glow, thanks to the soft, subtle lanterns. Quite irresistible, really :)

Surroundings - I challenge you to find a better setting for a restaurant, anywhere in the world! You've got the blue ocean ahead of you, golden sands beneath your feet, and the whole world in the blink of an eye.

Prawn Curry a la Goa - make sure you ask the chef to whip it up extra spicy for you. Marinated in liquor of some kind (wine or rum, I'm guessing), the prawns are delightful with either rice or olive bread. Bon Appetit.

SEAFOOD: A delicious landmark of Baga Beach...

    Britto's, Goa

The sun is setting, your tummy grumbles, your mouth is dry, and your feet are tired... head down to Baga Beach to somewhat of a landmark in Goa: Britto's!

They have Goan and also Continental specialties, and both are good. There's finger-licking yummilicious local seafood as well as delecacies for vegetarians.

The staff were friendly & knowledgeable, and really helped us to make the best choices with our food. It was definitely a very refreshing & hospitable experience :-)

The ambience is crowded but cozy - lively but not annoyingly so - relaxing lighting inside, and moon shine outside :-)

Don't miss the seafood platter, which 3 of us girls tucked into; the fresh crab, and of course the cocktails with vodka, rum & the local "Feni" (made from either coconut or cashew)

Wait! Leave some space for the amazing desserts, otherwise you'll regret it! And don't forget to pick-up some of their home baked bread for next day's breakfast.

NOTE: Get there early to get a table, because it gets crowded really quickly.
This is a permanent structure, not a shack.

Usually I'm a great fan of venturing away from the relative safety of one's hotel and finding culinary delights outside in the "real world". But on our 4th evening in Goa we were simply too tired & lazy to go out, and decided to try the hotel's very own seafood restaurant.

As the Golden Eye Hotel is one of the very few that is located right on the beach, you get that wonderous authentic holiday-experience of eating great seafood in the night's ocean breeze...

The menu is quite extensive with either special a-la-carte options or you can choose your fish by weight and then define the cooking style.

The interiors/exteriors are nice and modern, clean, waiters are friendly with good knowledge of English and are also open to making good suggestions from their menu.

My friend ordered some grilled Tikka Paneer as a starter, followed by Naan bread and a delightful Prawn curry in red sauce.

I asked the waiter about an authentic, traditional, local curry for Goa and with a big grin on his face he proudly proclaimed "Fish Caldeen". Caldeen curry sauce is made with mostly coconut & green chillies and is a Goan speciality.
I chose to have mussels with the caldeen sauce and it was absolutely devine! I highly recommend you try it!
We also ordered a Lobster Thermidor (charged by weight) with vegetables and it cost a laughable 790 Rupees! (approx. 17 US $)

I would definitely eat here again and I suggest you do... just don't tell everyone about this place, ok? ;-)

(P.S.: Please share some of your seafood with the lovely hotel felines.
Also, please don't order baby shark. By catching juvenile fish the species has the hard task of trying to not become extinct! Thank you.)

There are Hundreds of restaurants ranging from a simple beach shack to 4-5 star restaurants that serve excellent seafood and surely not to be missed by any traveller.

These restaurants serve variety of sea food like Pomfret, Mackrel, Kingfish, Lobsters, Prawns, Shrimps, Crabs, Squids and many more (Not Sea Snakes... :P)

My favorite is Fish Curry & King-Fish Fry with Boiled Rice......ITS YUMMY.

The place is great for a lunch or dinner, you can see the beach and watch the sunset from it. Food is very good and prices are reasonable.

Seafood salad. It's called "seafood and vegetable salad" there, but it's mostly seafood and the portion is very large (was a whole meal for me :))
The price was 150 rupees ($3.5).

Garlic cheese naans (local type of bread) are also highly recommended!

The restaurant of Golden Eye resort, Calangute, Goa is one of the bestseafood restaurants in North Goa.
The ambience is great and they always get repeated guests. The owner Mr. Mathais is a very friendly man and if you get a chance, have a chat with him. Specially if you are looking for some tips about something in Goa.

They have accommodation also. 22 well appointed rooms and it is family run resort.

  • Approximately 20 kms from panji towards margaon just after crossing zuari bridge within 4 kms on right hand side you will find the perfect home made restaurant and bar called Bonny's Restuarant. Here Husband do all the work of outside and wife do all the cooking job. The perfect home made taste , homely atmosphere , cleanliness, fresh fish are the most attractions of this restaurant.
Cost of wine per glass is 10 Rs and any fish fry will cost you around 70 rs. The best thing is masala fried prawns , they are just delicious.

  • This is a MUST GO place in Goa!!We were approached while soaking in some rays on the beach in Calangute by the chef who gave us a flyer for his restaurant. We were impressed at his enthusiasm for his own food so we found our way to Roma to sample the delights that he promised would be on the menu. It was like love at first bite!! The chef Kharis Francesco has worked in top restaurants all over Italy and Paris and his inspiration and expertise comes through in his cooking.......the menu is HUGE and VARIED offering a sublime fusion of traditional Italian recipes and fresh fish and seafood....the result is mouthwateringly astoundingly good!! The salads are great and washed in purified bottled water..the pizzas are freshly made in the outdoor Goan oven and the service is impeccable... and you have to try the home made icecreams and sorbets. Roma was so good we went back three times!! I am so dissapointed i didnt take a photo here!! One more thing to mention; its so very very cheap!!

    Rocket and parmasan salad
    Gnocci with tomato sauce
    fettuccine with seafood
    tooo many to mention!!

Great seafood! When you want to order fish, they bring the day's catch to your table, so you can choose the very fish you like, and then they ask you how you want it cooked. Prices are reasonable, service is very good, food is great!

Red snapper tandoori with lemon sauce.
    Prawns were also great there!
