Absolutely superb pure vegetarian restaurant at Resort Rio, a 5* deluxe hotel in Goa. Food to die for. When we were there, it was also announced that they won the Best Vegetarian restaurant in Goa award by the Times of India Good Food Guide 2012. Nice ambience with unusual low seats- you can actually fold your legs, Indian style, whilst eating ! Incredibly good food. We had khandvi, dhokla, kachori with 4 different chutneys for starters. It was then followed by puranpuris, fulkas, theplas, 4 different types of curries, kadhi and daal followed by khichdi and rice- everything of course served in a Gujarati/ Rajasthani thali. I am a fussy vegetarian and this restaurant, Jalsa, also has a separate veg kitchen with separate utensils to prepare veg food. We dined there 6 times out of our 9 day stay at Resort Rio. Absolutely recommend this wonderful restaurant. Motiram, the chef and Sunil- the main guy are absolute stars. Well done and can't wait to be back !
Favorite Dish:

This neat and clean restaurant name 'KAMAT' is situated close to Capital Church,Panjim. Discovery of this restaurant was a delight for me and my family as we enjoyed eating South India Dosa and North India Thali as well. Milk sweets are too very nice.I highly recommend this restaurent for vegetarain Indian tourists quality is very good and prices are reasonable.
plaintain leaf - popular south indian hotel u will get everything from idle to dosa to south indian thali. located at start of main market road which finally ledas to calangute/baga beach.
little italy - pure veg meal available - excellent pasta and nice place for enjoying romantic dinner. they serve pizza, pasta and lots of italian salads with combo meals at attractive rates. location is a bit difficult but if u have bike than it's easy just go straight from market road towards candolim and after domino's pizza which falls on right hand side there is small right turn go little ahead and turn left that's where it's located. as i said if u have vehicle or bike easy find.
navtara restaurant - u will find thie hoardings/billboards everywhere onm highway when u land and reacvh your hotel in north goa. they are located at 2 places far off but provide good food almost everything is available. average decor but friendly staff. they close down early by 10.30pm so make sure u reach on time.
subway / domino's - no need for introduction
if u r going to anjuna beach flee market on wednesday than there is popular big beach shack which will give u nice sandwiches, north india food, fresh juices to enjoy.
There are loads of restaurants in Goa - we went for a nice chinese at the Nizmar - a fabulous Italian at Little Italy and several Indian and other types of meals. The best Indian food I ate in Goa however came from the Nizmar resort or the excellent beach shacks on Baga Beach. The one (pictured)that sticks in my mind is one that plays constant UB40 and has big screens. This was a really friendly place and we thought the food was excellent and great value.
Favorite Dish:
I had aloo gobi - but I think all the food from toasted sandwiches etc. was amazing.
Goa is a foodies paradise. Anything you want you can get, and it's all really cheap too. I'm vegetarian, and I had no problem finding a wide variety of things to eat. I like everything in excess too, so if you want hot food, it's there. If you want spicy, garlic, or even plain boring mild food it's there too.
This small hole near the now defunct petrol bunk of calangute turns into a pleasing open air restaurant at nite. Good service with reasonably priced food to suit all nationalities and "Brits" aswell.
Favorite Dish:
I had dinner twice here and though the egg fried rice was spicy, it was still quite tasty. I also liked the veg american chopsuey, lotsa veggs for a meat eater like me.
Good ratio of price/quality. Located at Bhakti Kutir eco-resort (See my Hotels & accommodations). The food was tasty and healthy and service was gentle but susegad, because all the processes of preparing the food are hand-made from fresh ingredients, and most of them are eco-savvy raised also. No meat on the menu, but seafood and daily specials will do for the nonveggers, like myself.
Favorite Dish:
Meals were served with rice, curry sauce and salad. Example menu for two: king prawns, springrolls and mixed veg Kohlapuri (spicy) with 2 chapati, soda and bottle of water 340 rps (late March 2003).
Favorite Dish: A must for veggies visiting Goa...been here for years and does typical South Indian dishes like Masala Dosa! Has great thali's!
