  • Living Jewels: Living Jewels for Diamonds

by lucyhearth Updated Aug 14, 2008

I have to totally agree with you there is only one place to shop for diamonds in Goa and that is Living Jewels, I have purchased on every trip and now take home orders for friends and family. My son had us get his girlfriends engagement ring made here a pink sapphire and diamond cluster cost £240 and valued in the UK @ £2200 she was delighted. Perry and Harry are lovely people are so warm, friendly, honest and genuine, we speak on the telephone during the year to have a general catch up. We are going back in January no doubt to purchase some more......as they say "diamonds are a girls best friend"

What to buy: Diamonds and all other stones, pearls, gold and silver

What to pay: This is up to you and your budget

    All across Panjim: Cashews

by Rupanworld Written May 27, 2009

Cashew nuts of Goa are really very good and very cheap. Definitely worth buying when you visit. The entire city of Panjim is full of cashew nut stores where you can also find feni, the local drink made from cashews and coconuts

    What to buy: cashews, feni

    Panaji: Spices

by Rupanworld Written May 29, 2009

What to buy: Goa produces exotic aromatic spices like Black pepper, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cloves, Chillies, Coriander etc. and they are generally produced in an organic manner. Buying spices at cheap prices at Goa is a good idea.

  • ROCKY'S GOAN JEWELLER: Jewelery

by Lemoncello Updated Mar 23, 2007

This merchant is the most honest and has the best designs in Goa. He is charming and very ethical. His jewelery is beautiful, only the best stones are used and his personal designs are very unusual. I paid £900.00 for a diamond and emerald ring which was valued in the UK for £4025.00. It is stunning. His customers come back to him year after year. I will definitely be buying from him again.

Get your shoes cleaned or repaired.: Shoe care

by grandad Written Apr 23, 2005

On the street corner near Mapusa Market (or most other street markets) you will find the shoe-shine men who will clean, shine and repair your shoes.

What to buy: Clean and polish your shoes and have your shoes repaired.

What to pay: Few rupees for a clean and polish - I paid 150 rupees for a complete sole and heel replacement for a much-loved pair of sandals which I picked up in Mexico.
