We had excellent quality suits, shirts, skirts and trousers made in a few days from Supertailors. The man who runs the shop is really helpful and has the latest Next Directories to help you choose what you want or he can copy an item if you bring a picture of it. He has a wide range of fabrics and will spend time going through them all for you.
What to buy: All clothes are a bargain in Goa and I would recommend the tailors to get more formal wear and jackets.
What to pay: My husband paid about £200 for 3 suits (Itslian style) and 6 tailor made shirts which were excellent quality. I had 2 pairs of trousers and a skirt made for £35.

Opened last year these two book stores mean you never run out of good reading material. Excellent selection in both shops with Oxford having more fiction, and Sarkands more non-fiction. Some lovely glossy coffee table books at okay prices, good selection of classics for 90 rs, interesting indian cook books, indian authors. If you like to read these are the shops to check out.
Although most hotels supply the essentials it is always a good idea to buy some toilet tissue in the local shops, as for soap and shampoo there is a wide choice but for the women you should bring a supply of the tampons that you are used to because the Goan women seemed to be built a little different to the western woman although you can survive with the range that they have in the shops, and it's getting better.
After weeks of looking for a bikini (which is hard to find in India), I finally came across a gem of a classy boutique in Palolem, called CHIM. It's one of the few designer shops I saw and the merchandise as well as the sales staff were absolutely fantastic. It has fair fixed prices and there is no pressure to buy. One can browse at leisure and get styling tips from the friendly staff.
What to buy: There is an amazing variety of bikinis and swimsuits imported from a French designer.
The prices are 40% less than in Europe and the bikinis are chic, glam and immaculate quality!
They also have beautifully designed and impeccably crafted clothes and sandals. Definitely one of the best boutiques I came across while doing the tourist route in India.
What to pay: On bikinis, the prices start at rs.500 ($11) and go up to about rs.2000 ($40 for more) And there's every price in between. The other merchandise starts at Rs. 100($2.3) and go up to whatever. It's all great quality, handpicked by Product Designer Shefali Mahadik who travels India, Asia and Africa to keep this boutiques well stocked!
Everywhere you go in Goa, you can't help but fail to see Tailors willing to make dresses, suits, tops, skirts, trousers and pretty much anything you can think of.
What to buy: If you know what you want or already have it and want it in every other colour then just go in and ask.
One problem you may come across is that lycra is not that common, so if you want something tight....forget it!
There are jewellery shops everywhere so relaly look around before you buy
What to buy: I did not have the money myself to buy any, but my friends bought diamond rings, ear-rings and pendants.
Upon returning to England, they each had the gems valued for insurance and were advised they were worth considerably more then they paid for them
What to pay: As with everything, watch out what you buy!
There are lots of people wandering up and down the beach selling stuff - you can easily get sunglasses, fabric to use as sarongs, drums and jewellery brought straight to you on your sunlounger! There are also a few small stalls set up next to some of the restaurants with more jewellery and some clothes, so you don't even have to go to the main street!
You'll also see people on the beach offering massage and henna tattoos - see my things to do tips!

There is no such thing as cheap.
To give cheap there must be some quality missing or some other things mixed,
Do check for the above.
In gold the purity is in its carats check whether its 22 carat ( for jewellery) and for just plain gold its 24 carats
Give a woman a shoe shop!!! And you will be there for hours try to avoid by distraction tactics, and cross the street before it’s too late!
