There is nothing better than lazing on the beach, watching the sun go down, sipping on a Kingfisher or a sweet lime and soda. Stringfellows on Candolim Beach is a great shack - free sun loungers and cheap food and drink. Food is all freshly cooked on site (try the veggie curry), staff are really friendly and there is a nice relaxed atmosphere. There are various levels of seating which makes it different from a lot of the other shacks.
They tend to start dismantling them towards the end of April in preperation for the Monsoon season.
You gotta do this!
We stayed at a beach hut on Mandrem beach, ( 650 rupees in a taxi from Baga/Arpora) and it was brilliant, .... the best!
It costs us 500 rupees ( about £7) and our hut was on stilts, with a double bed, mozzy net, sofa, and a balcony, but you can pay an extra 100 rupees for en suite, theres different shacks on different beaches but our was called ' sea paradise ' the boss there is called ' phillip ', and was really helpful.
We sat on the beach with our bottle of wine as the sun set and then strolled back to our shack and sat on the baclony and watched the sky turn pink!, it was just amazing!
Theres a security guard who sits in the small comlex all night for piece of mind, but what I think really is cool is that there apears to be no mozzys?!... we took lots of cream, and spray and .. of course applied b4 sunset but didnt get a single bite!
Theres lots of beach shacks and some friends stayed on a shack in Palolem and said it was great too.
You'll see some fantastic sunsets during your trip to Goa. The sun sets over North Goa so just find any spot near the coast for a wonderful view. Or better still...find a beach shack and relax with a Kingfisher beer!
All over Goa the Beach Shacks are great...no charege for sun loungers...and very attentive staff...will vary from beach to beach...might be Anthonys, Silver Sands, Big Banana, Fishermans Hut, Johncys...THEY ARE ALL GOOD!...service is great...food normally the same...and those that open at night...kick back and watch the stars!
If you are fed up with the Baga/Calangute/Candolim/Siquerim stretch of beach the jump in a taxi and head North...the beach from Morjim up to Arambol is relativel quiet...with just the occasional shack...and very few people...bliss!
