The Vagator beach is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole world and I have absolutely no doubt about this saying. It is really beautiful. It is made up of a number of small beaches. Red cliffs and rocks, palm and coconut trees, red sandy beaches, the chapora fort, all these make it almost like a paradise. Its picture perfect.
However, it is very unclean and the water also is not at all clean. The beach lies at a distance of 22 kilometers from the main town of panaji and is close to the Chapora Fort.

In Goa most fasinating thing to do is lay down at beach and do nothing.Just do rest, have a bath in sea, read a book and when hungry have food and drink of your choice from near by shack.There are women selling coconut water for Rupees 20/-only it is refreshing and taste is also good.Shacks provide sea foods, soft and hard drinks and vagatable salads, prices are reasonable.There are sixty four sea beaches in Goa and it is not possible to visit all of them.Some beaches are corwded and but some less corwded and peaceful.Vagator sea beach is in North Goa and very neat and clean beach and less crowded.I like this beach a perfact place to relax in solitude and enjoy the natures beauty.

Head further up north to Vagator and Little Vagator beach. There are a few shacks to choose from for food and drink and the vibe here is much more chilled. The sea is less rough than further south around Candolim as the rocks break the waves so it is a better option for swimming. The sand is quite dark here but then again don't expect any of the beahces here to be pristine white like the Maldives. Apparently somewhere on Little Vagator beach there is Shiva carved into the rocks although we never did find it....

The only problem here is that as it's a smaller beach there seems to me to be even more beach sellers which can be quite tiresome.

This is a lovely quiet beach just north of Anjuna. Theres tons of steps to get down, so you have to be reasonably fit...especially on the way back up! But its well worth it as there are only six or seven shacks.

One of the more visually interesting beaches in Goa, Vagator is one of three beaches that are around the Chapora penninsula. There is a pretty active night life here with a few rave venues staying open late along with a few bars. There is a very friendly local population here and most of the tourists are here only during the day either as a stopover during a North Goa bus trip or from Anjuna or Calangute. Little Vagator and Ozran beaches are also nearby and within walking distance. There is very little package tourism that goes on in Vagator so there are sparse facilities. You will need to get cash from Mapusa or Anjuna before coming to Vagator. Chapora also has ATM service. Chapora Fort sits upon the rocky outcrop just north of the beach and is in easy walking distance though the hill is steep with small rocks. Watch your step.

Every evening a dj is playing his trance etc. music in this bar and guests can watch with a kingfisher (beer) etc the sunset and/or dance on the "dancefloor". Some people also smoke the things they need to enjoy their lives.
And every eve it is an excitement wondering if the sun will make it down into the water or not. (The sun may disappear before just little before on horizone in the haze.) Even though the atmosphere is great, bombastic, due to location above the beach and the changing music every time. It is a great way to end the beach day or start the evening with an aperitif and then decide what to eat and where to go for the rest of the evening.

South of Vagator, this secluded beach is accessible by walking down a steep hill. There were 4 tourists when I went there but I heard the place is quite packed and not that "secluded" in high season.

It's very different from the other beaches and worth a try

Vagator Beach is actually two beaches on each side of a 50 meters high rocky lookout. The lookout area is a small car park with a market.
