Everywhere in Goa there are bikes outside bars and restaurants so some cheeky young local kids will pick a bike then remove the plug lead on your spark plug and stick a bit of paper inside to stop the spark. I must admit i fell for this and allowed them to take the spark plug out before i realised the scam, when they demanded 50 rupees I told them i would pay it to the local police man that was coming down the street and they legged off .... kids eh ? oh well no damage done and no harm

There is no such danger, because people are very helpful. But getting out in the dark, normally for long walks can be dangerous. You can be taken for a ride or swindled or anything. Travelling with a companion is preferable. But this is not a common event. It can just happen as it happens anywhere in the world.

When you are on the beach or wandering around town you will get a little hassle off the locals and not so local as they travel from afar to get to the tourist hot spots. The thing to remember when you are on the beach if you are a couple is to go swimming separately so one of you can look after your belongings or if you know someone you trust ask them while you go for a dip. What-ever you do don't get paranoid about things getting stolen as it is very rare that it happens because believe me the punishment that they recieve if they get caught far out weighs the temptation to steal. There are also harmless teenagers having a laugh at your expence but it's all good fun unless you are one of those people who think that they own the friggging beach. You will get to like them a lot especially if you are too relaxed and chilled to walk a couple of metres to the beach shack to buy a cold beer or soft drink as yours truly will quite willingly do it for you, obliviously for a coke for themselves. If you are the sort of person that dosn't like the attention then they will soon be aware of that because they don't want to spoil your day, and remember if you are worried about losing stuff then don't bring any-thing valuble on the beach with you.
