Kasol is a village situated on the banks of the Parvati River, on the way between Bhunter to Manikaran in. Himachal Pradesh. An interesting fact about Kasol is that it is inhabited mostly by tourists from Israel. Almost every hoarding and bill board in Kasol is in Hebrew and Hindi. One would also find the famous Israel dish, Israeli Shakshouka, a dish of poached eggs in tangy tomato gravy along with hummus and pita bread.

It is also the unofficial drug capital of the country. The place is famous for its wild marijuana made from the cannabis that is plentiful to the area. One would find a blend of European culture in the area. Shops selling hippie clothing are many and there are European style cafes too.

The best option to go to Kasol is by road.

    Reaching Kasol from Delhi:

From Delhi, you can take a bus (Volvo being the most comfortable), in late afternoon/ evening, buying a ticket for Bhunter (you may have to buy a ticket for Kullu). You can choose to get down at Bhunter in the morning. It's approximately half an hour (11 Kms) before Kullu. The bus will take around 10-11 hours.

***On reaching Bhunter, you can ask around for transport to Kasol (just short of Manikaran). The bus timings are not very accurate but shared jeeps are also available. This part of the journey can take anywhere from one to two hours. You can freshen up in one of the lodges at Bhunter.

In the month of May, one may not get the ticket of buses plying from Delhi to Manali, if not booked in advance. The second option is to board any bus, in the night , from Delhi to Chandigarh, which takes only 4 to 5 hours. In the next morning, one can get bus from Chandigarh; there are frequent buses from Chandigarh to Kullu and Manali. Moreover, if one opts for this option, they will also get chance to enjoy the beautiful road journey from Chandigarh to Bhuntar/Kullu.

    Reaching Kasol from Shimla:
If you start from Shimla then from Shimla to Kullu/Bhuntar by bus.***
