Favorite thing: At all cost avoid coming here or to Badrinath in summer. That is high visitor season and the magic serenity of the place will never transpire. Not to mention all the mules you will have to dodge along the trail. After that are the monsoons, so obviously a no-no as if the roads are not bad enough. So the best time would the cold winter months right before it closes around the festival of Diwali.
