Masked monks dressed in rich brocade robes used to dance.

Its good to see Ladaki old ppl wearing there tradison dress..
around 9am,the Monk started coming out ,there colourful costume, started performing dances,in open ground.
Its June,and already hot summer..
This main attraction for forign tousit and Indian travellers.

Ladaki ppl are friendly, for new ppl also they will say "Julley! ",
its good to see there smile. when u reply them "julley" too..
The road to Lamayaru is so steep and view on the way is breathtaking....

First day I viisted Thiksey Monastery ..Its 20km from Leh..
Its finest example of Ladakhi architecture.
The view of imposing Monastery is very beautiful.
Monasteries in Ladakh may be either of the Mahayana or the Hinayana sect of Buddhism.
The head lama is called a 'kushak', meaning reincarnation.
monasteries are part of Ladakh culture...Almost all monasteris on hill top..
Each has there own speiciality...
The main prayer hall you will see 15mt hight Buddha figure.(Face).
Early morning prayers are good to see. From the Tiksey valley and snow clad mountain range view is spectalure..From top vechicle can go ,for some distance one has to walk......
Before going to top hill, you can stop take this Monastery photograph...
The view from this Monastery is very beauitful, though its summer still June,
I could see snow peak clad mountain range and valley..
The cloud formation adds extra charm to the landscape..

Taks the most common animal you will find en route to Ladakh and even around Ladakh. Many people drink Yak milk in Ladakh.. I didn't try it as I am not too adventurous with respect to my culinary habits..

Passing through Chang La (5289m) the third highest motorable road in the world it is a 150 km drive to Pangong Lake. Except a few unpaved patches the road is in good condition and some tourists, like us, go on a two-wheeler. On the way you would pass through some of the most amazing landscape in the world and at many points freshly melted snow results in streams that simply cross your path over the road. At one point a bridge was washed away by the river and the army personnel were busy constructing a new one. We had to take help from the construction workers who put up wooden planks for us to cross over the river!
The first sight of the Pangong Lake was truly magical; the water was so unbelievingly blue and stretched to the horizon. The lake is a massive 130 km long and extends into China. Around one third of the lake is under Chinese control and the only humans visible are army personnel and some construction workers. There is a small lodge (with dining facilities) on the banks of the lake run by the local people; it's a very basic accommodation but it's location makes it priceless. We stayed there for the night. There are no boating facilities at the lake and the army boats are for surveillance purposes but if you have luck on your side they may take you on the boat.

Stok Kangri (6100) looms pointed and high on the southern skyline seen from Ladakh, it is the highest peak of the Zanskar Range. It is also a very beautiful peak with a beautiful view from its slopes (if not able to go all the way) and its summit. With the help of a trekking agency you can climb this peak, but not without being acclimatized...
You walk in from Stok Village, follow the creek to the east when the trail diverges right to Stok La (west side of Stok Kangri), continue to the Stok Kangri base camp on the northeastern slope. Scale the peak the next day and return to the base camp. You'll need 3 days two nights for this endeavour, more if not properly acclimatized (maybe you shouldn't do it?).
The easiest access is on the east ridge (left ridge on the photo). Ice ax, crampons, snow gear necessary. Recent snowfall makes it dangerous and avalance prone.
