Rickshaw Stand at THe Mall!!

In Mussoorie only you get to see and travel around in Cycle Rickshaw. Since, Mussoorie town is based on almost Horizontal ground, it is possible to see around the town in a Cycle Rickshaw. But it does not ply in all the areas only in the areas where it does not require to climb an altitude. Please dont get shocked and feel shy as these are absolutely pollution free( A MUST FOR HILLS) and the people who drives them are very strong. Remember, this is also the only source of earning for them!

Fare is about Rs.10- Rs30/- per person depending on the distance you travel. It is fixed by the municipal corporation and the board displays the fare at the ickshaw Stand.

Looking out the bus front window on the way to Mus

We caught the local bus from the stop in Dehradun up to Mussoorie. Our tickets were Rs. 23 (less than AUS$1) for the trip which is about 35kms (from memory I think it took about 2 hours). The bus was a fantastic old clapped-out thing that wheezed its way up the mountain. The road was a windy one with numerous switchbacks that would have offered stunning views back down into the Doon Valley had the weather been clearer....can someone tell me if it is every smog-free on the road to Mussoorie? The bus finally arrives at the Masonic Lodge bus stand, the actualy town of Mussoorie is further along the rideline via the traffic-free Mall. If you are staying in Mussoorie there are plenty of cycle rickshaws that will collect you from the bus stand.
