	The Holy Temple, Ganapatipule

The Temple along the beach!!

Ganapatipule is famous for its centuries old Ganesha temple made from one massive rock. This temple holds the Swayambhu Ganpati shrine, which is a naturally formed or self-created monolith of Lord Ganesha. Pilgrims from all over and especially Maharashtra flock here to pay homage to Lord Ganesha at this temple. During the Ganesh Chaturthi festival and on other such festivals, this idol is taken out of the temple accompanied by a pujari or priest and a drummer.

The Thiba Palace in Ratnagiri

Ratnagiri, I have not seen much in my few visits to this city, we used to bunk our college lectures and use to go to this city as it was the nearest ones close to us with the feature of a cinema hall ;-)

I have been to the Thiba palace, also the city has a nice beach and a small Fort. The Thiba Palace was built for the exiled King & Queen of Burma (now Myanmar) in 1910-11. They lived for five years till their death in 1916. This is historical place, British Government had built up this palace King Thiba was arrested by British empire from Brahmadesh. Then after he was living in palace. Now a days Government Polytechnic & Student's hostel is there in this palace.

	Marleshwar Temple as Sangameshwar, Ratnagiri

The God of Marol village is known as Marleshwar. The temple is situated in a cave. Near it there is a waterfall of Dhareshwar. It is said that Lord Parshuram did the foundation of the temple.

The wedding of Lord Marleshwar is performed with Goddess 'Girijadevi' of Sakharpa village. There are many snakes in the cave by they have never bitten any of the devotee who came to visit this temple; in the cave, as a result the faith of devotees has increased. Believe me I have been there many times and even touched a live snake!!

The Sahyadri Mountains ranges can be seen from here. This spot is being developed by the govt. as the tourist attraction centre. The govt. is also planning to make arrangements of accommodation at the footsteps of the cave. It is one of the important Tourist visiting place.

This is Ganapatipule. Land of the 400-year old Swayambhu Ganapati. Set along the western coast of Maharashtra, India, about 375 kms from Mumbai, is a small little village, called Ganapatipule. It is known for its serene, sedate beach. Unlike most beaches which are spoilt by tourist traffic, the Ganapatipule beach is still a natural haven. Even today, the waters are blue and the sands, white.
