Floyds Hut: You like seafood???

by Travelvulture

The best seafood restaurant in Candolim! Floyd himself will be there every night to make sure that sandards are maintained. Red Snapper. A whole fish is presented to you cooked with fresh herbs and spices. It just falls away as you put your fork into it. You won't believe the price! The same dish in Ireland would cost 30 or 40 Euro, in Floyd's it's about 3 or 4!!

Park Plaza Madurai: recommendable hotel restaurant in Madurai

by MichaelFalk1969

The Park Plaza restaurant where I stayed in Madurai has a great menu choice and is not as expensive as one could expect for the hotel standard. I was pleasantly surprised. The longdrink prices even outside happy hour are unbeatable with a mere 150 rs. per drink. Also, if you stay there, do not miss out on the breakfast menu - it`s very good and to be recommended.

Blue Elephant Restaurant: an unfriendly place in Mahabalipuram

by MichaelFalk1969

The LP guide book recommends the "Blue Elephant" in Mahabalipuram. While the food is unquestionably good, the friendliness is lacking - the manager was grumpy, the staff was slow, and I didn`t like the place particularly well. The same goes for the Moonrakers Restaurant opposite. Rather go to the "Galaxy" restaurant which is as good and much more friendly.

Geetas: another riverview restaurant in Hampi

by MichaelFalk1969

Geeta`s restaurant is easy to find if you visit the Vitalla temple to the east of Hampi and just follow the path along the riverside. Sooner or later along the way you will come across Geeta`s restaurant, which has a nice riverview and a good choice of Thalis, too.

Mango Tree: river view restaurant in Hampi

by MichaelFalk1969

If you are in Hampi at the ferry crossing point, go some 1000 metres west and you will find the Mango Tree restaurant, past a banana plantation. You actually sit down on the ground in view of a river, and can expect gorgeous Indian food at a small price.

Raheems Residency: elegant dining in Allepey

by MichaelFalk1969

Raheems Residency is an upmarket hotel + restaurant in Allepey we visited on New Years Eve 2008/2009. The price level is comparable to dining out in a western metropolis, but the great service, the ambience and the high standard of food make it a great experience. Very worth the price if you want to spoil yourself.

Tea Pot: friendly cafe in Cochi

by MichaelFalk1969

The Tea Pot is a small cafe (on two levels) in a side street of Princess Street in Fort Kochi. They have a good choice of teas, as the name suggests, some sweets and snacks, and also a few main curry dishes. The fish curry is to die for. The athmosphere is friendly and laid back, and the service can occasionally take some time, so don`t go there if you are in a hurry. A place I wholeheartedly recommend.

Samarkand: Central Asian Food in Bangalore

by MichaelFalk1969

The Samarkand is a slightly upmarket restaurant but still very affordable for western tourists. The cuisine is mainly about Central Asian, but also North Indian dishes. The restaurant is a great place, the staff most helpful, and the food was absolutely worth the price. The additional advantage is that they have many dishes that you usually wouldn`t find elsewhere, as few restaurants specialise on this world region.

Caza Maria: colonial-style restaurant in Cochi

by MichaelFalk1969

This restaurant is close to the Dutch Palace, at the entrance of the Mattancherry quarter. The interior is painted in dark-blue, decorated with gorgeous colonial furniture and paintings, the service is excellent, the food even more so, and the prices are very affordable. My favourite restaurant in Fort Cochi.

Spice Garden Restaurant: a spicy place in Kumily

by MichaelFalk1969

The Spice Garden restaurant in Kumily has a mix of Indian and continental cuisine, and the quality of food and service was good. Despite the name, the food was not as spicy as I expected, except for a few dishes like the Tequila-Chilli Chicken. The nicest tables are in the garden in the backyard, if they are full, you can sit in the more basic restaurant room adiacent to the street.
