Galaxy restaurant: the friendliest place in Mahabalipuram

by MichaelFalk1969

This restaurant was really friendly, the food was good, and at very competitive prices, and the service and friendliness was outstanding. It is located in the second level of a building next to the Moonrakers Restaurant in a main tourist street in Mahaballipuram, very easy to find. The waitress even encouraged me that I could come back here anytime and read a book as long as I like.

Moti Mahal Deluxe: Very good food!

by PierreZA

Beautiful interior, decorated in a modern fashion and an up-market atmosphere. This Mumbai restaurant serves North Indian food. The quality of the food is above average – and well worth the money.A bit more expensive than the average restaurant.Starter, main and soft drink – Rs 900 Everything I had was very good!

Seven: A very good buffet in Chennai

by PierreZA

This is a restaurant in the Marina Towers Hotel. They have a buffet lunch which is real good value for money. It includes starters, mains and deserts. The mains consist of a good selection of veg and non-veg dishes. The buffet lunch only costs Ind Rs 350 (January 2008)!!If you have time for lunch when in Chennai, do try this buffet! Biryani (Veg) & Butter Chicken

Shiv Sagar Restaurant: SOUTH INDIAN CUISINE

by PierreZA

This is a very nice vegeterian restaurant.Do go inside, as the inside of the restaurant looks very different from the entrance area. When I was there, it was mostly Indian patrons – very few tourists - and very busy.Main courses 80-180RsExcellent serviceSelection of South Indian dishes very good Biriyani

KFC in Calcutta!: Original Fried Chicken!

by michaelxxx

If your sick of spicy food and Indian food, simply go to KFC FRIED CHICKEN in Salt lake city, near the Hyatt hotel. KFC is located in Calcutta’s new mall in Salt lake city.Is it worth your time and drive? It’s a 15-30minute ride from the main district of Calcutta. (Depending on the traffic and how the driver drives you there) Its worth the drive, you will finally have some western food, and believe me, it taste really good! The prices are not that bad! 40-100ruppes a meal! This really save us from starving in India! Definitely KFC’S original fried chicken! It taste nearly the same around the world! You will not go wrong making this your choice!

Restaurant in Delhi: Where to eat

by miguelle_guisson

In India, there there is no such cuuisine called India cuisine, cozz of the varied variety of food and diversity in people's eating habit, we have Mughlai Food, Punjabi food, Gujarati, Maharashtrian, south Indian, bengali food etc... so the list goes on. Bets place to eat food in India is somewhere in the city centre, you can always ask Indian people which is a nice cool palce tp eat food. As a thumb rule that i use is that i always ask local people to direc tme to a famous, popular and within budget restaurant. So i alwyas find a way to a good restaurant in every city. Another tip is to see where the rush is, if you see a restaurant with lots of customers, it musr be selling good/ reasonable food. Sometimes i dont mind to eat on a roadside restaurants called "Dhabas" or through street hawker, but again common sense applies here, seeing by eyes and sensing by nose. My favourite...

well of course the Pine Palace eatiery cum cafe: Order the Local food and don't look in the kitchen

by michaelparham

Do yourself a favor and don't order anything that is not Indian. The Indian food is great but when you take an Indian and ask them to make Chinese food (that is on the menu) you can only imagine what you get. Chicken Tikka was great My fried vegitables were awsome and really turned heads

Railway Station Tidbits/Snacks...

by coceng

One way to sample local tastes is getting those fried snacks sold on railway platforms. If you think your tummy can accept those, my advice is try them !I don't even know all their names but they look so inviting. Most are fried in oil & that adds a flavor to these snacks.I love 'samosa'.Read about it on HERE.If we are lucky, there would be people selling these on the trains as well. They are so cheap, about Rs 2 to Rs 5.

surya mahal , jaipur: fresh vegan food of jaipur

by shoma

its a bustling place right in the middle of the city, the food is affordable and has a lot of variety. the indian thali and mini meals are a must eat here. opposite this eatery is the famous lassiwallah, which sells great sweet lassi, which is churned chilled yoghurtits a great place to have lunch i must say the indian thali which has a variety of vegetables and curries.also try the mini meals like rajma chawal, alloo paratha and dahi, etcthe food is not too hot and spicy and the staff is friendly and warm.

Foods...

by coceng

Well, of course in India we could just eat anything we like !There are so many to choose from.Even the Western foods are sometimes available, like sandwiches, salads etc.For me, I come from Asia so rice would be great !To most tourists, they would be asking, "Is it safe ? Is it clean ?"Well, this is really up to individuals !I was really cautious for the first few days when I was in India.A week later I could (well, I thought I could !) eat just whatever I wanted !Being myself, eating was NOT my main concern.Saying this, when I find something that I really like, I would just stick to it until the end of my journey !Mentioning this, I rarely eat at a restaurant.I would rather bring the foods back to my hostels or bring it as takeaways & eat it on a bench somewhere while watching the locals run their everyday life. While in India anyhow, I did eat at railway canteens. The foods are cheap &...
