Sonam's Kitchen: Best Breakfast in Darjeeling

by traceyspacey

This is a great place to meet other travellers and enjoy good food. Fresh Bread with Kalimpong cheese and tomatoes, homemade porridge and much more and the best coffee. It is small and cosy. The front is open to the elements so wrap up warm. The owners are really friendly. Brown Toast with Kalimpong cheese and tomatoes. Having been in South India for over 2 months it was great to taste cheese again. The cheese is similiar to gouda with a slight nutty taste and the tomatoes are marinated served with thick fresh brown bread. I have had it three mornings in a row. It's great.

The Third Eye: The Eye has the goods!

by ChartIt

This was the best food i found in India. It was at the quick and inexpensive, and in ENGLISH! I am not very good with ordering Indian food, and the resturant does cater to the more Middle Easten, Kosher visitors. They also sell the special lassi. If you have never had the special lassi, split it with someone and get a medium Grilled Eggplant and sald sandwhich with french fries in a falafal. The french fries are actually put in the sandwhich and together they make a wonderful flavour.

DUTCH KAFFEE: FAT ALBERT: Don't miss breakfast with real imported coffee.

by vagabonden

This kaffee is a wonderful place - an oasis in Khajuraho, far from the crowd and noise from town. It is situated very peacefully by the Southern Temple Group, surrounded by a beautiful flowering garden. You can eat outside or in the clean and tasteful kaffee. Run by Dutch father and son, who are very pleasant. They serve breakfast with real imported coffee. Small continental vegetarian menus for lunch and dinner. Also delicious pancakes and ice cream. All water is purified. Everything at very reasonable prices. The delicious pancakes and ice cream are a must

by georgina1103

resto is located not too far from the beach.. u hear the waves while drinking your cocktail.. Customer service is fantastic, fast and reliable. Food is superb.. the prawns specially, have it grilled or in lemon sauce. They have a long menu, so you have a wide choice of cuisine...continental to indian. the place is quiet peaceful to cosy.. soft music.. candlelights on outdoor tables along the small garden and patio. jeera rice.. and their prawns.. tigerprawns i think they are called. big , plump and juicy.. tried it grilled... wow... tried it with lemon batter sauce, its grreat! they cook it just right, and serves it as soon as its off the grill or pan..

Go Vegetarian - I dare you!!

by lachydragon

Before I went to India I was dared by one of my friends to remain vegetarian for the whole trip. I have to admit it was a pretty big undertaking for me who has been brought up on the Australian way of Barbeques with very little vegetative matter in sight! But anyway I took them up on the matter and had the most fantastic culinary experience in India for it. I was actually of two minds as to how to approach my new task. One: I took it on pragmatic grounds, that seeing as Hinduism promoted vegetarianism then prehaps the Indian handling of meat (seeing as it isn't in their culture) could be far below our own standards. With the flipside being, why impose my dietary preferences on people who don't do that! Two: When in Rome..... I thought why not! It turned out that meat was readily available and from the accounts of my travelling companions who ate it it was generally quite good. But once I...

How Hua: Chinese restaurant in Kolktata

South Indian: to go AC or NOT?

by majul

In Southern and in Northern India, most restaurants have AC rooms and a non-AC rooms. An AC room usually have a nicer/cleaner looking atmosphere with air conditioning and often times a separate entrance....and definately a much higher price for the same dishes they serve in the non-AC rooms...targeted towards tourists. If you don't mind sitting down with the locals, and being a little hot while you eat, insist the wait staff that you want to eat in the non-AC room. They will try their hardest to send you to the AC room, but if you are persistant (without being rude of course), they will eventually sit you down at the non-AC room. In a local eateries such as the one's we've visited, each meal cost us between 25 and 50 rupees (vs. 60 - 90 rupees in AC rooms).

Yummy food

by afidos

India is a vast country in landscape and a rich country in its traditions, languages, and culture. I don't know what tickles your fantasy, but the Shilon Resort and King's Palace in SIMLA were impeccable. The King's Palace was built during Maharaja Ranjit Singh's Rule and it is deliciously designed. The ride up the mountain is bumpy and very adventurous around mountain bends. I had a 6-star experience for reasonable prices that I could afford on a student budget! (food was served in a warmed plate, servers were formally dressed and very pleasant) Papar (crispy thin spiced appetizers)Palik Paneer with Raita (Palik is Spinach, Paneer is cubes of processed milk, like cheese, and Raita is yoghurt with spices)Channe with Puri (Channe are curry-flavoured fried beans, Puri is a sort of deep-fried bread)Malai Kulfi (a sort of herb and almond milk flavoured ice-cream) Gulab Jamun for dessert...
