India is a shoppers paradise, the list of things to buy here is long. What makes India a hot shopping destination is prmarily High Quality & Low cost of items. There are many things you can, but the it depends on which part of India you are. Here is a list of the things that you can & must buy from India.Clothes : Cotton shirts & other apparel ( Delhi & Mumbai ) Silk Saris : Kanchipuram, & VaranasiSpices : KeralaCarpets & Wollen Handicrafts : Himachal Pradesh, Jamuu & KashmirTea : DarjeelingAyruvedic Medicines : Haridwar & RishikeshI think there are many things you can buy in India, so start making the list. Always do bargaining while buying items, mostly with clothes & handicrafts, you can always do bargaining.
Traditional costumes can be purchased almost everywhere in India and the prices range from hundreds to thousands of rupees...To be on the safe side, you may want to purchase from the government departmental stores.. They may be a bit on the pricier side but at least, the quality is somewhat guaranteed. Plus, arrangements can be made for tailoring to be made, fit-to-order, by the next day. However, one common mistake which most tourists made are wearing the "choli" ie the inner part of the saree as a top by itself..... Please note that choli is considered an underwear hence should not be seen outside. Only little glimpses (hidden by the saree material) however are allowed... sarees, silks, colorful bangles, bindis, shawls... Bargaining is a necessity.. :P
Healthcare: We saw a few small hospitals and medical tents/stalls in Rajasthan although we never visited them. Unfortunately I did have to seek medical advice from local chemists (pharmacists) twice. Unlike our healthcare system which is so laden with malpractice fears, the chemists here are allowed to make general diagnoses and to dispense prescription meds as they see fit. Both chemists seemed competent and their recommendations cured my ailments. The medicines are unbelievably cheap as I bought a full course of antibiotics and another tummy-settling medicine for 90 rupees ($2) total. No insurance card needed.
Product Availability: Despite not seeing a supermarket the entire time in India, we found everything we needed at small general shops along the street. We ate out every meal so we didn't have to buy food or cooking supplies but it seemed like vegetables were readily available in local markets and supplies available at bazaars. Toiletries like soap, toothpaste, toilet paper, mosquito repellent, deodorant, etc. were easy to find and very reasonably priced.
Arts and Crafts - There is great variety in the arts and crafts of India including; ceramics, jewelry, textiles, sculptures, woodwork, rugs, appliqués and embroideries, puppetry, metal and mirror work, and paintings. The textiles and paintings especially caught our attention. Textiles: The patchwork embroideries are amazing. They are pieced together by local tailors who collect the pieces from the desert villages. The embroidered pieces are from traditional wedding dresses, dowry bags (which girls start making when they are young and complete before they wed), and opium bags. Some of the pieces are over 100 years old. Many of the village people are eager to sell them for a profit and with the rapid modernization of the culture; soon these crafts will no longer exist. Cotton and silk styles of clothing and scarves line many of the streets in Pushkar. They are amazingly affordable and...
.: Actually, there are 2 ways - the first, when the person makes knob from one thread from the front and one from the back, and the another, when the knob is made from 2 threads from the the front and 2 threads from the back. The one with the l-l knob technique is more expensive, as this contains more knobs and takes more time to finish. It is very interesting to see how the artist follows the pattern and the colors- which he receives in a piece of paper. The result is: various kinds of beautiful carpets. Carpets

India is marvellous everywhere you will find so many beautiful things to buy and what a price! if you know how to make they go down prices.... textils, sharis, slippers, jewellery, fashion jewellery, all kind of crafts, and the same things that in occident but for less than a half (levis, nike, and all the big marks) great prices, you have to haggle over the prices is the local costum
