The photographs presented here depicts the newly constructed Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The very new airport is around 38-40Kms from it's older counterpart i.e Begumpet Airport.
Although, this airport is far off from the main city but still there are lots of transportation means by which anyone can reach the heart of city. They are:
a) Radio Cabs (INR 15 per Km....bit costly)
b) Airport Bus Service (INR 90....A/C Coaches......affordable but stops at certain locations only)

Air Deccan, the country's first low cost regional service gets underway, with prices up to 50 per cent less than conventional rates. Air Deccan has flights to all major towns in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Return flights on the same day will result in huge cost savings by business passengers. The reporting time being 45-minutes before time of departure, the baggage limit per passenger is 15 kg. That makes interstate airtravel very cheap and definetely affordable.
Book u r tickets simply via a phone call or the Internet, take off from the tarmac is assured within 15-20 minutes from the time of departure.

Old Airport was in Begumpet whereas new Airport is in Shamshabad and is definately outside city to some extent.
If u want to reach Begumpet (Old Airport) it will take around 1hr to 1.5hr depending upon the traffic which substantially increases during peak hours (8:30 to 10:30AM & 6:00 to 8:00PM) and rest is luck.
Lot of Radio Cabs are available at Airport itself. If, I remember, they charge somewhere around INR15 per KM and will take u to your destination.
For complete location details, u may visit official site of Hyderabad Airport at

and map may be visited at

This map also provides transportation facilities available from New Airport.

If you are game for it, ask for a lift. Being a local native and having seen and experienced the attitude of locals, if you are a tourist, you will most probably find ppl stopping their bikes, two wheelers, (not cars though) to give you a short free ride, for about 2 -3 kms. This is for those times when you have a short distance to travel and the 3-wheeler auto guy will never agree to drive that distance and even if he does, he will rip you off with an exaggerated fare!
So here's the exercise, just stand near the foot path and extend your thumb up, jus like Barrack Obama does, you will have a few good souls stopping by to give you a lift or a free ride.
This tip is of absolutely no use to a women. Women tourists should never ever ask for a lift here as that has many many connotations, permutations, and combinations. So woman, never ask for a lift here!

It is very easy to get around by either taxi or rickshaw. If a meter is not being used, you must agree to a price before the ride. Try to have an idea of where you are going or how long it should take to get there so you don't get taken for a "ride", which never happened to us.
You may also hire a taxi to drive you around sightseeing for the day. If you hire from your hotel, it will be more expensive - and they usually charge by 4 hrs, 8 hrs, etc. with a specific amount of kilometers allowed. Anything over will be charged extra. If you hire a taxi from the street, make sure to agree on the price but do not pay it until you are done sightseeing for the day. I've always thought that a bonus with taxi drivers is that they know good places to eat cheaply. :-))

When you board the bus - Keep small change ready for ticket. Ticket conductor will charge you as per your destination and will provide you a ticket. Keep your ticket safely till you get off at your bus-stop.
Stay alert during your ride so that you know when your bus stop approaching. If you're not sure where to get off the bus, ask the driver or the conductor to call out your stop.
Mostly entry and exit for ladies is from front door and for gents rear door. Front seats are allotted for ladies and back seats for gents
