Biryani was brought to Hyderabad by the invading Mughal army of Aurangazeb. Since traditional Indian foods such as roti, rice, curries, and soups would be too time consuming to prepare and eat in times of war, the biryani was developed to get quick food to the troops. The blending of Mughlai and Telengana cuisines resulted in the Hyderabani biryani. It is made from goat meat (mutton) and basmati rice, although you can get a chicken or veg varitey as well. Other ingredients include yoghurt, onions, saffron, and spices. Paradise Restaurant is said to have the best biryani. My husband had the mutton and I had the chicken. He reported that his was delicious. And even though I am not a big biryani fan, mine was the best I've had in India. Just the aroma alone was wonderful. The portion size was very large - I think one dish would have been enough for both of us. The restaurant is on 2 levels and there can be a crowd. It was crowded when we went in and there was a queue by the time we left. There is also a parcel/take-out counter on the gound floor with a huge line. Hyderabad is famous for its Biryani and for the best you must go to Paradise Restaurant!! The Paradise Biriyani in secunderabad is a legend!The area itself acquired the name thanks to the restraurant.SO just ask anyone to take you to paradise and they will do so.The biriyani here is the best you will get in the city.they have chicken,mutton(lamb) and vegetarian versions of biriyani.If you find the ambience not upto the mark,just go to the parcel section and pack some of their delicacies and enjoy it at home/your place of stay. hyderabadi biryani! yum!! heres the recepie--- Ingredients Meat - 1 KG Boneless Basmati Rice - 1/2kg Onion - 2 Big Lime Juice - 1/4 Cup Curd - 500 GM Ginger Garlic Paste - 4-6 Tsp. Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tsp. Green Chilli - 4-6 grind into fine past Shazeera - A Pinch of Shazeera Clove - 1-2 Cinamon - 1-2 Cardamon - 2-3 Coriander Leaves - A bunch finely chopped Mint leaves - 8-10 sticks - Plucked only leaves Safron - 2 pinch of safron, immerse in water Safron color - A pinch of color liquified with water Ghee - 2 Tsp. Oil - 2 Cup oil Salt - To taste Method: Cut the meat into 4' square pieces and wash it Add ginger garlic paste to the washed meat and Marinate it for 1 hour. While marinating you cut the onions thinly lengthwise and Fry the onions in the oil on low flame till it becomes golden brown. Now remove the golden brown onions from the oil and spread it on the plate, when it cool then crush it with your hand. Now add the curd 3/4 part of crushed fried onion, Red chilli powder, Green chilli paste, Cinamon, Cardamon, Shazeera, Clove, Coriander leaves, Mint leaves and safron water, salt to taste and remaining part of the oil into this marinated meat and leave for one hour. After one hour take basmati rice and washed and now pour water into the rice as you cook it and add salt one tea spoon, Cinamon, Cardamon, Shazeera, Clove, Coriander leave, mint leave, Green chilli 2 cut into lenght wise. Now put on flame but when rice start cooking when the rice becomes half cookded. Then remove it flame. Drain out the water completly. Now spread this half cooked rice on the marinated meat. Upon the rice layer you spread lime juice, saffron color and ghee and remaining part of the crushed onion. Now cover the utensil with lid tightly. Keep it on a very low flame After 1/2 hour exactly take it out from the flame. Now your delicious tasty Hyderabadi Biryani is ready to eat. Serve hot with curd chutney or with Bagare Baigan Curry. Multiple levels, you can find a decent place to sit and enjoy the ambience, the crowd does make a buzz but thats normal anywhere in India

Great food and perfect ambience for a quick afternoon lunch, oh ya they have executive lunches, so grab one the suits your tummy and wallet. Cozy dinners aswell. They have started home delivery aswell for lazy bums!!!
Try biryani and I believe they have a variety of biryani's available. Although breaking away from the routine to do something new with the ever so popular biryani has never worked, but still a good effort to be different. The biryani is very spicy and has great aroma. Hyderabadis eat biryani round the clock, you can get it from 11 am to 3 am at different places in hyderabad. These are best places for biryani ( Not in the order of preference, each has its own taste): 1) Paradise Hotel , secuderabad 2) Bawarchi , RTC X Roads Hyd 3) Cafe Bahar , Hyderguda HYD 4) Parvez Hotel , Nampally, HYD 5) Hyderabad House ( they have many branches across city) 6) GreenLand Hotel ( Go for their midnight Biryani Buffet - starts at 11 PM) 7) Hotel Niagara - On way to charminar.
Biryani - Mutton , Chicken. Order for a Double Ka Meetha to finish of the meal. Dont try prawn or some other, stick to mutton and chicken. One serving will be enough for 2 people.

On the way to Charminar, just ask anyone for Hotel Shadaab. The aroma and taste of biryani will make you go mmmmm.. Second best biryani is of course the traditional Paradise Biryani. Veg Family pack is a steal for 130 Rs odd you get amazing food, from biryani to rumali rotis.
