Hussain Sagar is a lake in Hyderabad built by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali in 1562.It was built on a tributary of river Musi to meet the water requirement of Hyderabad city.A large monolithic statue of Gautam Buddha in the middle of the lake was erected in 1992.
Hyderabad has one of the worlds largest freestanding stone Buddha statues. It is a fairly recent creation and work only began about 20 years ago. It is about 18 M high and it can be seen from almost any place in the area. It was transported from the city on a barge and during the transportation of the statue the barge sank killing eight people. The statue laid under water for two years until local authorites raised it from under the water unharmed, amazing. You can get boats to the platform for around 20 rupees but it is probably best enjoyed from the banks at sunset.

Hussain Sagar lake more commonly known as Tank Bund is a popular sight of Hyderabad. This Lake and the Bhudda statue is a great marker to keep your bearings when finding your way around Hyderabad.
The stand out feature of the lake is a 16 meter tall and 350 ton white granite statue of Bhudda on Gibraltar Rock. A taxi driver once told me the statue was dropped in the lake on installation and had to be brought up from the bottom of the lake to sit on Gibraltar Rock.
You can go for a speed boat ride or a boat ride. The water is not clean, so dont TOUCH the water. There is a monolith budha statue in the middle of the lake.
You have neckalce road along the banks of the hussain sagar
.You have eat street, which serves some very good indian food. You can get south indian , north indian, chat, ice creams, sweets etc. I personally like this place, you can sit on the lake banks and enjoy the food. On the other side of the lake ( On tank bund) you get fried fish, this is lil spicy but very tasty.
Good time to go is in the evenings, when it is cool and pleasent. Go around the lake, you have few parks, play gounds, Birla mandir etc.
Hyderabad is a city which has a number of lakes. The most picturesque among them is Hussain Sagar Lake. It is a big water body which lies between the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It was built by Hussain Shah Wahi in 1562. The most remarkable feature of the lake is the huge statue Of Lord Buddha situated at the middle of the lake. The lake looks more beautiful at night with lights all around. The vendors near the lake sell snacks and other tit-bits. Many people come in the evening to take a stroll with their families and loved ones. Near the Hussain Sagar Lake is the Lumbini Park, which is an amusement park for the young as well as the old. You should not miss these places if you are visiting Hyderabad.
