Manas Sanctuary
Manas Tiger Project is a world heritage site with a project tiger reserve and a biosphere reserve. It has a great scenic beauty and is a habitat of rare wildlife, In its area of 519.77 sq.km. it houses some rare species of wildlife like Hispid Hare, Pigmy Hog, Golden Langur, Indian Rhinoceros, Asiatic Buffalo etc. and some common animals are Elephants, leopard, clouded leopard, Himalayan bear, wild boar, samber, swamp deer, hog deer. Hundreds of the winged species like Riverchats, Folktails, Cormorants, Ruddy Shelduck, Indian Hornbill and Pied Hornbill migrate to the friendly climate of Manas during winter. It is situated in the Barpeta district of assam, 176 kilometers away from Gauhati
