Manas Sanctuary

Manas Tiger Project is a world heritage site with a project tiger reserve and a biosphere reserve. It has a great scenic beauty and is a habitat of rare wildlife, In its area of 519.77 sq.km. it houses some rare species of wildlife like Hispid Hare, Pigmy Hog, Golden Langur, Indian Rhinoceros, Asiatic Buffalo etc. and some common animals are Elephants, leopard, clouded leopard, Himalayan bear, wild boar, samber, swamp deer, hog deer. Hundreds of the winged species like Riverchats, Folktails, Cormorants, Ruddy Shelduck, Indian Hornbill and Pied Hornbill migrate to the friendly climate of Manas during winter. It is situated in the Barpeta district of assam, 176 kilometers away from Gauhati

Kaziranaga National Park Sanctuary

The Kaziranaga National Park is situated at Bokakhat in the Jorhat District of Assam and is 217 kilometers from Gauhati. It is on the bank of mighty river Brahmaputra. It is a natural habitat of some rare species of animals, especially the one-horned rhino, which is to be found here only. A variety of animals and birds like Oriental Honey Buzzard, Black-Shouldered Kite, Black Kite, Brahminy Kite, Pallas's Fishing Eagle, White Tailed Eagle, Grey-Headed Fishing Eagle, Himalayan Griffon, apart from the rhino gives it a unique place in Indian tourism. The Elephant Safari is very famous here. Riding on the back of this giant animal gives tourists very good chances of taking pohotographs and closely watching the dwellers in the sanctuary.

For me visit to Kamkhya temple was dream come true as i have faith in Mother Kamkhya but i was so sad to see the things around there.I saw the sacrifices of innocent animals.On an average 35 sacriifces were perform each day.It is centuries old tradition to sacrifice animals before mother Godess but now a days it is alomost stoped but sadly at few places it is still continued.I am not against eating non veg but i can not appericiate sacrifice of anilmals in the name of ritual.I was thinking when we call mother godess as Jagdamba the mother of all universe than this small lamb is equally a son of mother just like us, then how a brother can slaughter another brother in order to apease his mother.Though i was glad to see hundreds of birds there as they were freed by devotees.It is nice to feed these white pigons. Kamkhya Temple

Kamakhya is located on a hill - Neelachala Parvat or Kamagiri near the city of Guwahati in Assam. Shakti, residing on the Kamagiri hill is known as Kamakhya, the granter of desires. Assam traditionally has been known as the Kamarupa Desa and has been associated with Tantric practices and Shakti worship. It is said that Kamakhya is the giver of all desires and salvations. Other temples on the Neelachala hill include those of Tara, Bhairavi, Bhuvaneswari and Ghantakarna.The temple was destroyed in 16th century and was rebuilt in 17th century. Ambubachi mela is held at the Kamakhya temple in the month of Ashad(Mid June),Doors of temples are closed for three days,it is belived that Mother Godess goes through her annual cycle of menstruation during this period. Named after the greatest Vaishnava saint and the greatest integrator of the Assamese society Srimanta Sankardeva, the Kalakshetra is a multi-Arts complex. The Sankardev Kalakshetra displays the artistic excellence of Asam and the rest of north eastern states. This is one best museum i have seen yet.A beautifuly maintainted garden with artistic sculptures showing soical customs and costumes,musical instruments.life of peasants,tea collectoer,replica of tradition house inform and educate the visitors to kala shetre.Apart from this huge open gallery in garden there provsion of light & sound show, a gallery of renowned painters and a gallery of North east costumes,masks, musical instruments and various dances is worth visit.Sadly photography is not allowed inside the museum gallery despite i paid Rs 10 for camera but that only valid for garden.
