There are no hard and fast rules here. Tips can be around Rs. 5 (10 US Cents for small restaurants) and in bigger restaurants factor it.
People are very friendly out here, and one should not face any problems. Dress a bit conservatively.

These are just a few tips to keep in mind
- We shake hands upon formal greeting (not accompanied by a kiss as in some countries).
- Politeness is always important (remember Please? and Thank You or Shukriya).
- Swearing is, for the most part, unacceptable. Avoid it.
- Superiors and those with whom you are unfamiliar should be addressed as Mr. or Ms., unless they tell you otherwise.
- Tipping at restaurants is optional when it comes to small eating joints and fast food places. But at bigger eating places, the waiters/ waitresses would expect to be tipped.

This festival is essentially religious in nature. It is celebrated with true devotion in the various temples dedicated to the Mother, or Mataji, as she is familiarly called. In some homes, images of the Mother are worshipped in accordance with accepted practice. This is also true of the temples which usually have a constant stream of visitors from morning to night. Janmashtami, the birthday of Shri Krishna, is celebrated with great splendour. Rows of lights are lit everywhere, kirtans and bhajans are sung, sermons are delivered and Krishna is worshipped in his infant form. Thousands of people go to Dwarka to visit the temple and participate in the fair. After visiting the main temple, devotees go to Shankhoddhar Beyt. There are some other important temples, both old and new. Among these is the temple of Shank-Narayan, dedicated to the Matsyavatar, the incarnation of Vishnu as a fish.
