Luggage and bags: light weight bags. backpacks.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: in summer light cotton clothes, shorts, t-shirts, sports shoes or thongs will do. in winter take wollen clothes to keep you warm enough. jeans and jumpers for winter. summers are very hot and winters very cold. esstimated temperatures in summer goes up to around 44.c maximum and in winter up to 5 or 6.c.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: deoderants, perfumes, talc powders, soaps for summer and for winter nothing special. make sure to carry your medicines when u leave home. indian medicines are best in the world. but it is likely that you woun't find the same one you use.
Photo Equipment: video cams. simple cameras, and other equipments as you wish. take care of all this while u move around. don't leave unattented.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: no need for this. you will find nice places to stay. camping not advisable.
Miscellaneous: make sure to go through the lonely planet book about india to find more details.
