After offering prayers at the seaside, Gandhi spoke to the large crowd which had walked the distance with him. He picked up a lump of salt, and thus broke the law. Soon, the `satyagrahis' followed Gandhi's passive defiance, picking up salt everywhere along the coast. A month later, Gandhi was arrested and thrown into prison, already full with fellow protestors...

You could visit Gandhiji's birth place of Porbandhar in Gujarath and drink in the atmosphere of the by gone days.There is a library there.The narrow lanes and rustic atmosphere still remains.Gandhiji is revered all round the world for his courage,wisdom,persevarance and humanity.In case you are in a mood to get contemplative on philosophy and humanity, this could be the place.However,be prepared to find alchoholism and dirty roads and corruption in Porbandhar!!
