There is not much in Gulbarga as a night spot cos it is a small town, very small, people just roam aound at night for leisure, atleast that's what i felt. There is this road called Aiwan-e-shahi road where there are a lot of students living, so u will find some bit of activity here. It has a DVD theatre, music store, some staring opportunity and anything u can think of in a jungle!!!!
To travel Gulbarga from Cpital Bangalore(karnataka):Gulbarga is well connected from the capital Bangalore there are 3 trains daily which travel from Bangalore
Vidyan Express,Karnataka Express and Basava Express one more every alternate day Yeshwant pur Express.which goes Via-Guntur,mantralay,Raichur,Shahabad to Gulbarga.
Fare is with reservation 243 as per the day 1st April 08 and without reservation is 125 .
Gulbarga is known as the Sun city of karnatka the temp always is about 25 degree and in sumer it raises till 45 degree..
Since there is not much as pasttime or recreational activity, u will find people of all ages, castes, n creeds getting drunk here everyday. So be careful when u roam around in the nigths or for that matter any time of the day!!! The locals here are not a friendly lot and make life miserable for outsiders or people coming for others places for business or study, no one comes here for pleasure. I feel guys here are a victim of inferiority complex, so.....
People here gutkha here by packets and packets. Gutkha is betel nut powder mixed with some colorants and flavors, and it is sold in small packets worth 4 to 5 rs. People here are so addicted to it that the whole of gulbarga eats almost 70% of the total gutkha consumption in the state of karnataka. They open the packet and keep the contents in thier mouths till there is a hole in it or they die of cancer.
Fondest memory: The drive back home after exams.........
